Trade caravans in city

As Howland wrote in this topic:

trade caravans are supposed to arrive in Sanctuary on a regular or irregular schedule.

Would be one of the DMs up to scripting them, and really having some NPC merchants appearing in the Bazaar or in Lower marketplace? Thay could be there for about one week before disappearing again, but back in a later time.

It would make a good opportunity for players to purchase some really exotic items at tremendous price, but only in limited (usually one) quantity and for a limited time. The appraise roll DC to get favourable conditions from them should be also higher than the regular traders in city.

They could also provide a lot of plot lines with their moves, like carrying some exotic components needed for a plot. Also, PC traders could get a lot of opportunity to conduct their business.

Also, their appearance or the lack of can be tied to wider ranging events. Seekers could be sent out to trace a delaying caravan. Or if the caravan does not arrive it can be because they know something the people of the city don't, like drow are intending to attack.

Their moves could also be inserted in a realistic way on the server. Like they appearing in Fort Mur for a week, than 2 days later (which is supposed travel time for them) they are in Sanctuary for a week, than a day later they are at the Blue Mushroom (if it fucntions like before the lizard attack), than nowhere on the map for 2 months, conducting trade elsewhere.

There also could be some guestgivers in their ranks, of course thoose guests available only when they are around. Crazy, insane quests, normally maybe not fitting in in the city's life could be given by them.

Would the DM team like to introduce something like this on the server? I think it would greatly enhance the dynamic, living feeling of the server.

Hear, Hear.

I like this idea.

If I remenber rightly, There is some sort of travelling merchant out. Although if he/she/it is alive and kicking I have no idea.

There are traveling merchants in the underdark already. I don't think we will script merchants to come into and leave the town...you can however, persue plots that involve meeting particular special merchants if you talk to us.
