I am writing in regard to two things.
Firstly with the falling of Sheriff Graiden, who is the new Sheriff or Acting Sheriff?
Secondly i wish to draw your attention to some worrying correspondents we have just recieved.
It seems Mr Fawkes has gained access to the Stoutheart Clanholme, Barak Tor, either personally or via a third party.
The evidence i have for this is the fact that he has just written to us quoting a number of private letters which are kept locked within Barak Tor at all times.
Whilst the language of the private letters has a certainly 'grit' to it, there is nothing particularly scandilous, just Stouts moaning about Fawkes and the reopening of the Stairway contract.
If we accept this presumption of entry (we doubt very much we have a spy in our midst, though i will be investigating).
What is of concern is that a senior Officer of the Watch would enter (himself or via a Third Party) Barak Tor, presumably in secret (we have no record of his entry or exit from any of our members) and copy out all our private correspondance.
Unless he forcibly broke in I have no idea where he got access to the documents, i can only guess.
The only key we have not accounted for is Talir Razenek's, who is believed killed whilst fighting for Sanctuary against the lizard folk.
Would the Councillors accept Mr Fawkes or his 'associates' gaining access every private correspondence they had ever written?
I would imagine not, though would be interested to here your thoughts.
In fact would any group in Sanctuary be completely comfortable with every private letter they have ever written being now threatened to be published?
I would add that i have no fear of this, should Mr Fawkes wish to do this.
We would like someone to look into this, and with Ronus now with Moradin, and the Watch under the complete control of Fawkes, going to them at this point is somewhat of a waste of time.
We would like the key returned, or if Mr Fawkes claims not to have one an explaination of how he came to possess every private letter we have ever written would be appreciated.
If for no other reason so we can close the security gap that seems to exist.
It does seem clear that Mr Fawkes would like to see the back of us (arguably from the whole of Sanctuary), and given he acts as Sheriff in all but name and controls the contract for the Stairway, he will undoubtable have his way, and alas there is little we can do.
It does sadden me that at this time of great crisis and tragedy for Sanctuary that one of its most dedicated law enforcement members seems to be spending his time entering (himself or via thid parties) locked and bolted areas and copying out long tracks of private letters and writing long correspondents to us explaining how we are less than we should be, and do not deserve what we have, rather than striving to make Sanctuary a safer place.
A safer Sanctuary is what i thought Fawkes wanted, and would have thought that is where his attention should be, not on 25 or so dwarfs. Which give the reopening of the contract and his latest letter is where his attention seems to be at the moment?
Or... is this the Brave New World we are entering following the death of Ronus Graiden?
