[A letter to Agent Winters at the Tower]

Agent Winters,

Though I do not believe we have met (at least not formally), I became interested in joining the Associates in the weeks before the invasion to better defend our home. Now is a time when intelligent and able men and women are needed most, and I ask to be able to aid the Spellguard however I can.

I have spent the days since the invasion attempting to help keep the peace in Lower. My primary goal was to minimize the looting that such a catastrophic event will tend to cause, and to do so I have spent the hours since the invastion patrolling and keeping watch over the Lower Market, the rothe farmers, and the Crone.

In the likely case of an assault against Lower, I have been attempting to make the Spellguard's deployment there less dangerous than it could be. To this end, I have been hanging posters and distributing pamphlets to remind the citizens of Lower of how much the Spellguard can do to aid them in the coming days. I copy of one such poster is included.

I am currently based out of the Crone, though I will come up to the Spellguard Tower to receive orders when need be.

Sanctuary Prevail,

Lucius Foxmantle Crone, Room Two

[A rolled up zurkhwood poster is included]

Citizens of Lower:

All armed branches that defend this settlement came together to defend the gates of Upper. All faced death to ensure that you could live on another dark, and every branch lost some of their own so that the greater good could be upheld.

Plagues and toxins are one of the greatest weapons that the forces of Sslal'teesh have at their disposal. These blights are able to cripple the strongest Watchman or Agent, but there are defenses that are able to triumph over them. It was the svirfneblin Animatrons, immune to the rotting touch of Moander's chosen disciples, that pushed the lizard menace back.

It is time for all of us, Upper and Lower, to come together and defend our home. This means putting the conspiracy theories and rumors of the Spellguard's plotting behind us for the greater good. It is the iron strength of the Animatron that can destroy plague bearers without fear of infection and will risk minimal citizen loss of life while defending Lower’s streets.

They are here to protect us. We must let them.

An attractive sketch of a large animatron crushing several lizardmen under his huge feet is drawn at the bottom of each flier. A crown of light circles its head that causes nearby lizardmen shield their eyes and cringe in fear.]
