Svirfneblin Panels

Most Svirfneblin panels about seem to have little suggeting to their function in their description and seem to activate (and often it seems to malfunction) automatically when one tries to interact with them. Assuming that they actually have an existing function scripted in and aren't mostly just placeholders, perhaps having a small bit of dialogue on interaction instead of just automatic activation would be useful? As it is, one doesn't really have a clue what one's doing with most of them.

Perhaps when the quests are being fleshed out more the lore skill could be used on one to get a hint at its function, if it has one.

As I assumed it was meant to be. However, currently the "interaction" with them means automatically pressing buttons. Perhaps a dialogue box which says something along the lines of "This is entirely indecipherable to you" would fit better. The automatic button pushing is what really irks me.

From personal experience, if you ensure a DM is present while you tamper with the panel, you'll have far greater clues as to what they are for. Or perhaps the DMs are truly evil and they like to give people red herrings.

My intent is that perhaps the "interaction" function with the panels should offer some description of them, in dialogue form, instead of automatically being regarded as an attempt at activation, or as you put it, tampering.
