[A sealed letter for "Thomas" at Worn's]

[The note is printed in blocky letters to discourage identification]

Thomas,

I have considered your offer and find the specific terms to be unacceptable. To do what you asked would require a pecuniary exchange for what was requested, not simply teaching me what you know of the Weave. Doing this and other tasks will get your boot well into the door, however, and will help build the trust that such a business relationship would require.

My offer has changed - I am on the verge of entering the brotherhood that I mentioned earlier, at which point formal and comprehensive training will be rendered superfluous. I will seek you out at Worn’s and present a deal that would be profitable and intellectually stimulating for all parties.
