Journal of Celawyn Crescentmoon

Entry 1:

*written in neat elven handwriting* Two days. I have been here for two days. Should have made some progress by then, but I still find a lack of information within me. The sightless one will not be pleased, oh no. But what else could he expect when he asks me to go to the Dunwarren in Sanctuary to find something called “The Eye”. I require more information about this artefact, before I can begin my search.

Lost my old journal too, in my little experiment. Foolish ticks destroyed all my former notes, thought perhaps they were some kind of food. But it was a success. I was able to cheat death, but the pain was too great. Note to self: Never try that again.

The experiment was foolish of me. I have lived for over four centuries, and I go around trying to kill myself? What a waste of precious time and energy.

Stronger, I have become stronger. The magic flows easily within me, though I have to study my book every time I plan to use it.

The link in my head. I have to find a way to get rid of it. The sightless one’s servant speak to me through it. He feels it when I am sad, when I laugh, when I am hurt. The experiment must have put quite the shock in him, no doubt. But he is unable to read my thoughts, I made sure of that. I have not lived for over four centuries to be a mindless slave to a small beholder.

I have to make some plans, cannot stand around waiting for the sightless one to finally think I am not worthy to live. But at the moment, the deal between us still stays strong. I have to make sure I keep him interested long enough for me to find a way to get rid of the link between us, and find a defensible position. Perhaps this “Eye” will help me with that.

My studies have halted, at the moment. Found a wand to help me, but the charges are spent and that makes it almost useless. The experiment shows me that I have made progress.

Notes: - Find the “Eye” - Get rid of the link - Get registered by the Spellguard (or not, if I don’t find any agents) - Meet the sightless one’s servant, to get more information about my task - Get stronger - Continue my studies - Make some copies of this journal, so I don’t loose my notes again.

Entry 2:

Have made progress.

Met the sightless one’s servant, who told me the sightless one grows impatient. Nothing to worry about at the moment then, he can wait a bit longer. Still need more information of the “Eye” from the servant, have to meet him soon, which I would have liked to avoid.

They are whispering about me, seems a Private has taken some interest after I told him about the “Eye”. Have to watch that human now.

Met Fuinnellethen, some servant of Ibrandul or such. Had a small conversation with her and she offered me aid in my assignment. Have to remember that, when I finally decide to go deep into the Dunwarrens. However, I don’t know if she’ll be able to come with me now. Not after the incident last dark.

Necromancy, what does the dwarf know of it? The power to manipulate life itself, to heal, to destroy. It was a mistake of me, I agree. To let my anger come to show in such a brilliant way, and such a foolish way too. It was only a minor spell, nothing too great.

Studied my wand. The runes are gone, but I believe I will be able to recreate it at some point later. Or get someone else to do it, but that will involve risk, which is unnecessary at this point. I do not want to draw too much attention to myself, and I have to say I am extremely good at it.

Self irony does not suit me.

Entry 3:

Finally more information about this “Eye”. It seems the sightless one is following a bard’s poem, a legend he heard long ago. It seems the “Eye” is an artefact of distant time, where a creator imbued them with magical properties. They are of different colors, reflecting the magic within them. The eye I seek, the sightless one does not know the power of. He follows rumors and lost trails, which led him to believe that an Eye rests somewhere in the Dunwarrens. Unable to get it himself, due to Sanctuary, he sent me to get it, with the promise that I could be free from him when the gem is handed over. I do not trust him, but this gives me time to find a way to get rid of the bond to him and the possibility of finding an old artefact, of unknown powers.

The legend of the eyes

Hidden beneath the earth. Among rock and dirt. Where dark skins run around. Where one’s destiny is bound, There it slumbers, A few in numbers, The eye.

Created in the past. Long they last. Their magic sleep. So deep. In a forgotten hall. Awaiting the call. The eye.

Oval like a globe. Colors as a wizard’s robe. Hidden, but not forgotten. Sleeping, but not rotten. Bound in magic. Their creator’s fate tragic. The eye, of the Beholder.

Entry 4: Last night or day or whatever it is above me was a good whatever indeed. I copied several notes from Morwen’s map of Dunwarren, which I believe will help me greatly with the task. This will satisfy the sightless one for some time, for I cannot search the Dunwarrens before I am prepared for the task. I have been offered aid in doing so, which is great.

But I made a mistake. An elf in the Warband and a human male knows about my little friend. I trust the elf to not say anything, but the human? I will know it if he speaks.

The Private who took interest me have not said or greeted me in any way. Perhaps it was just something I felt, but I still need to watch him and everyone who takes an interest in me.

The lines are drawing nearer, I feel the “Eye” watching from the deeps. One of these next days perhaps. One of the next days…
