Hey all, I just stumbled across the server and decided to check out the website. So far I'm really impressed and look forward to playing here. I've got a concept for a ranger but it's been a while since I played HOU and I'm not sure how the mechanics of it work. I tried a search but found only old posts that seem like they were from before the server went public so I was wondering if they were changed.
1.) Do rangers get the bonus to H/MS in the underdark?
2.) Are there actuall animals for the Animal Empathy skill or is it mostly monsters/ aberations/ vermin?
3.) I've seen other servers where rangers could craft wands once they got their spells, can they do it here as well?
4.) Are there a ton of rangers on the server right now? (just curious because I don't really like being a majority :) )
If this is the wrong place for this post or if any of these were answered in a diferent place then I apologize and will slink off to that part of the forums. Thanks.

Welcome to the server.
(1) As far as I can tell (although I have not tested this thoroughly), Bioware determines whether an area will count as "nature" (for druids and rangers) according to the tileset used -- and unfortunately, it does seem that the Underdark and Mines tileset doesn't count.
We do plan on changing this eventually if possible.
(2) There are definitely animals for the animal empathy skill. Lots and lots of custom monsters and creatures.
(3) Not sure about ranger crafting, I imagine if anything each ranger caster level would only count as 1/2 so it'd probably be a long time before you could craft (and even then only a few spells). So, not really recommended.
EfU is not a crafting-focused server, although we do support potion/wand/scroll crafting and have a few ideas for other stuff. We may shift towards more crafting if that's what our player base wants.
(4) Not too many rangers. I can think of two off the top of my head, probably one of the least popular classes at the moment.
Hope you enjoy your time here.

Thanks for the quick response. As far as the crafting thing goes, it's not a huge bonus for a ranger but just a nice little perk, the H/MS thing is a shame but not the end of the world. I'll definitly be playing a ranger so I'll see ya'll in game!

You may be able to mark an area suitable for Ranger bonuses by going to its properties and clicking the checkboxes for exterior and natural iirc. Underdark areas are interior and natural usually?
The exterior flag also means the map is revealed as you explore rather than all at once for inside areas. (Useful for mazes)

I believe the Vulcano Crafting System counts Bards, Paladins and Rangers as full-spellcaster classes, simular to Wizard, Clerics, Sorcerers and Druids.
Correct me when I am wrong, though. I seem to be that very often.

Underdark areas are set to natural, but I don't think that's what determines druid/ranger bonus. Pretty sure it isn't exterior either.
If someone wants to test all this feel free though!

I know there arent a lot of druids but there is a place where druids get some gear that make up for the trackless step feat. maybe some ranger gear might be a similar make up.
