To: Field Officer Ferrington From: Lucius Foxmantle Report on Offensive Against Ss'aal'teesh
Roughly one hour ago, I joined an offensive against what was thought to be a lizardman camp near the former Blue Mushroom Inn. The area was completely clear, which suggests that the lizardmen in the area where tipped off. A call for men was put on the Sending System, so agents of Ss'aal'teesh in the city likely provided them with the information.
We moved further north and encountered moderate resistance as we pushed into the Dock Ward. After some heavy fighting, we reached the gates to the inner wards of the city and (with the aid of my spells), we were able to destroy it.
Total death count for the forces of Ss'aal'teesh likely reached at least several hundred, although the use of magical darkness made the true death count difficult to determine. Among these, I would estimate that perhaps 15-20% were shamans of Moander.
Near the end of the fighting, I fell to the blade of one of their footmen. When I came to some time later, most of my personal goods were gone. Among them was a cache of necromantic items that I had recovered the day before with the intent of turning them into officals at the Spellguard Tower for proper destruction. I have written the Seekers (whose agents made up the bulk of the forces and were the ones who recovered said goods) and informed them that said items were not on me for use but for destruction when I was able to locate a personal agent and that they should be turned over to the Spellguard for destruction. I have enclosed the notice I sent them.
Because of the great strain on the settlement, I have found it difficult to locate an official with the time to write a recommendation. Might my efforts against what would seem to be the bulk of the forces of Ss'aal'teesh qualify me for entrance into the Associates?
Sincerely,

Scalebane7676 Sir or Madame,During a recent venture against the reptilian menace that threatens our fair Sanctuary, I fell in battle and lost a number of my personal goods. While most of these were worthless baubles, I am concerned about a cache of illegal items that I recoved the day before the offensive. It was my intention to turn these necromantic items into the Spellguard for destruction, but I was unable to reach an Agent prior leaving to aid in the offensive.
Among them were:
- Two scrolls of Raise Dead, recovered from a trogdalite nest on the other side of a false portal in the Canal Ward. I can produce a handful of people to verify that this is where they came from and that I was quite firm in my belief that they should be destroyed by the Spellguard.
- Two pairs of gloves that allow the wearer to draw the life force from another using negative energy.
- A handful of wands that shoot blasts of negative energy. Perhaps three to five. Some of these were used up when I found them, but because they had lingering negative energy, I thought it best to see them destroyed.
With the exception of the wands that had already been used, none of these have seen any use by my hands. I implore you not to assume that any man who carried such items would put them to use. If you have the capacity to destroy them, I urge you to do so. I have heard theories that burning scrolls of this nature still releases some malign energy. If this is the case, the Spellguard may be a better avenue for proper displosal.
Sincerely,
