*letter to Julian Fryar from Barak-Tor*

Councilor and Comrade against the Darkness,

You should have received the Stouthearts proposal to form a Mining Company to resume mining and ore processing. Our meeting in the Mines left the impression that they need to be restored to functionality as soon as possible.

We will need official acknowledgement from the Council recognizing our claim on the Mines which we have already submitted to the Herald's Office. We would also like to be awarded the contract to resume mining so that we may proceed with the formation of this company. This will require some initial Council funding to hire miners, foremen and to craft or purchase the necessary equipment.

Anything you can do to facilitate and expedite these steps is now needed. Recall when you first ran for candidacy, you pledged to help remove the Duergar and have our Clan replace them. Although this happened sooner than any imagined, clearly it is time for you to be true to your word and make this happen.

Anxiously awaiting the Council's approval,

The Stoutheart Clan

Councilor Fryar,

We are most disappointed that you have not responded and supported our efforts to keep the production of ore and metals maintained after the Duergar abandoned Sanctuary.

You relayed the grave situation that this put us in, and seemed to place the responsibility of this on our broad shoulders. We have made a strong effort to quickly assume what you stated was a crucial role, and have heard nary a word from you.

Indeed, I was shocked to hear you ask amongst strangers whether the Clan had supported you and voted for you again. We have not heard from you for weeks before the Grunstuhbles left. Nor have you or any of your order patrolled Barak-Tor to my knowledge.

I am sure it slipped your mind, but you did not provide for any portion of the rent payment that now seems ridiculous to the fists of the Clan who spill blood to defend Sanctuary and pay for the "honor" to do so. The Chosen have grown in strength, and simply passing from the Bazaar to our Clanhome has become quite perilous, and causes us to question the wisdom in giving the Watch our coin to do a job that I wonder whether they themselves can handle due to the growing power of these unique flying Chosen.

You promised our Clan the contract to mine and sell the ores needed to defend Sanctuary when the Duergar left, if we would lend you our support. We are now quite dismayed that we have to remind you of your oath, and hope that the stability you have achieved as a Councilor will allow you to fullfill it now that it is in your power to do so.

We also request that the "rent" payment be removed from our contract. Although the amount is not an overly large one, the injustice of paying the Watch to do their very dangerous work for them now requires amendment.

Finally, we ask that you inform the Archivist that the Order of the Pentinent Heart is no more, and that they be stricken from the contract. We would have the citizens of Sanctuary well aware that the Stouthearts alone are holding back the powerful threat that wells daily so near their kin and homes.

We hope to hear from you concerning these things in a reasonable time period for you to address them. We are a proud people, and being ignored and having oaths unfullfilled does not sit well with the Council of Elders nor myself specifically.

Julian, I know you to be a man of honor, and am sure you will rectify these issues so that we continue to maintain our good relations and for the betterment of Sanctuary.

Respectfully, Faenor Rollo Stoneshield Thane of the Stoutheart Clan Defendor of Barak-Tor

Thane Stoneshield,

Find me in person and speak with me, stop threatening me in letter. I'm exceptionally busy, and many of these matters do not fall under my authority.

- Councilor Fryar

Councilor,

I too am busy, and yet I find time to respond to the writings of my friends and allies. Particulary those pertaining to issues that I myself stated were of utmost importantance. Yet I will clear the Chosen from my doorstep and look to meet you, if you happen to have some free time.

There was no threat intended or implied in my letter. That you presume such speaks much upon your opinion of my person and that of our Clan.

It is said among my people that a true King changes not when he ascends the throne, and that many more have worn the title than earned it.
