*A letter for the Spellguard on high quality vellum*

*written in a thin, wispy, but even handwriting*

To whom it may concern,

I thank you for taking the time to read this letter. My name is Ellie Fitzgerald, currently a citizen of Sanctuary for many weeks. Having escaped from a house of Drow Hunters along with my companions and family, I have taken up residence in what would appear to be a very rich, if precariously comfortable city. During my brief time here, I've had the honour of meeting many of the local factions and their members; despite an underlying theme of tension and distrust, I've noticed that those people to whom authority is given have been courteous and efficient.

To my great regret, those who are most effective at their tasks are those who I have not had the pleasure of meeting yet. The Spellguard, whose subtle but necessary operations behind the scenes keep the City safe from many perilous dangers, is a faction which I feel it would be a boon to acquaint myself with. As an aspirant Abjurer and brewer of potions, I find myself working closely with the Weave in order to lend a helping hand to my fellow citizens. Therefore, I believe it is most important that I learn what I can about those who have walked the paths of the arcane in this place, and perhaps educate myself against the trials that a spellcaster may face.

To this end, I am writing to you to request a tour of your facilities, and an oppourtunity to learn more about wielding arcane magics in the Underdark. I understand that yours is a vocation which saps the oppourtunity for frivolities like a well-placed 9th circle Time Stop, but if there is any chance that you may have such time in the near future, I would ask most humbly for an invitation into your demesnes. You will find that I have no criminal record, and I will gladly follow only tour routes dictated by your Order.

Once again, I thank you for your time and consideration and wish you a pleasant day.

Warm winds, Ellie Fitzgerald
