The Seekers should accept that they are not likely to find a path to the surface any time soon. Their devotion is better spent elsewhere. Sanctuary needs allies. The Seekers have had years of training in scouring the Underdark. Cities of friendly Svirfneblins, maybe small settlements of lost slaves, even Goblins, Orcs and Kobolds willing to exchange resources.

The surface will still be searched for. However, we must supply for our own rather than wish upon a star.
