As you may have noticed, it's now possible to have different starting points according to your character's back-story (Lower Sanctuary, Upper Sanctuary, and Underdark). Starting in all of these different areas have different advantages and disadvantages associated with them.

Additionally, it is possible to start in Sewer Town. Sewer Town is a plot-sensitive area with a very small population of people in comparison to these other areas. If you wish to start there, you need to have a conversation with a DM explaining your concept and explain that it would make sense for your character to start there. An application is not required. This is best handled with an available DM in IRC or a DM IG.
