Sale thread for posted notices

Just a thought -- to clear up all the posters floating around--

Maybe put "Buy potions here!" sale signs in another thread? Seems to be a lot of them, and would like to be able to find the "Public Notice! This man is wanted by the WATCH!" withought having to read all those "I got a mace for sale! Cheap!"

No. I am not cracking on those who have goods to sell. But some seperation of the two subjects would make it a whole lot easier to read.

So start a "Trading Post Notices" thread, so players can organize a little easier.

Thanks.

*sniffles* Spirrow hates meeeee.

Actually, that sounds like a good idea.

I'm not sure how the admin feel, but as I do nothing on the forums but make a mess, I think it's keen!

... Unless someone else can come up ways it could be abused?

well-- one way to stop abuse is to put a time limit on the notices. They get taken down regularly-- not by players-- but by NPCs who sell the same kind of junk.

I am sure them evil dueger smiths will see a sign saying "Pure dwarven war ax! Never touched by a grey!" and tear it down imediatly.

So-- in practice? The notices in the "Trade Post Thread" gets taken down three days after posting (or some reasonable time limit). Keeps the thread nice and neet, and also is true for what would happen IG if the NPCs would act on their own.

*remembers throwing away all those scribed notes a certain councilman left laying all over the ground*

"Clean up yer trash! And whats this? Vote for me? Not a chance!"

*crumbles paper and puts it in the waste can where it belongs*

I'm not sure what this suggestion is. Are you guys suggesting just a thread? Or an entirely seperate Forum with pruning activated to automatically delete threads after a certain period?

not a whole new forums-- just a main thread for "Sale Items Only"

Call it whatever you want.

The suggestion about the pruning was only there because I have had issues with this on my own forums, and have had to set up "time delayed delete" or "time delay archive".

Mostly I did this so I would stop getting bombarded with angry PMs about "Someone could have told me this post was old and out of date and didn't apply anymore!"

IMO-- Sale item posts should be very temperary. When players come and go as much as they do, it just makes sense that the pole that had yesterdays poster gets covered up with a new one from today.

I like it, it's a sound idea.

yep, I concur. Separation of public notices and some kind of a merchant board (you could make placeables IG at the Lower Market/Auction House and the Upper Bazaar) is needed on the forums I think.

I also wouldn't mind an auto-prune of topics in that merchant thread that had not been updated in 7-days (not everyone checks the forums and is IG every day!). But that isn't as important as the thread itself.

I would prefer a forum over a thread, to be honest.

Forums are way more easily browsed than threads - think of all the inconspicuous-looking posts and signatures you have to browse through to get to a particular advertisement you were looking for!

Instead, I think a forum with an auto-pruning option would indeed be the best solution here. Absolutely not no thread should not be not created, never.

Any word if this can be done?

Just a "Bazzar Sale Items" thread would be nice.

Cause yes-- I check all the public notices. And no, I don't want to buy anybodies junks-- hee hee.

^_^

whereas I - on occasion - have money to spend and hate trawling through notices to find what is currently for sale in Sanctuary.

Separate forum for the Marketplace/Sale of Goods wouldn't be too bad.

Having a PC who is a some time merchant and trader, i think having a separate thread for 'Buying and Selling' would be great.

On a related note i would be happy if all notices, after say 7 RL days, were deleted.

Seems logical IG that your notices would be covered/dirty/unrecognisable by this point.

If this was done I would also prefer a separate forum over a single thread. Much easier to browse than having to scroll through all of the messages in a thread.

I'd be all for a Classifieds forum.
