------------------>:PHappy New year! :P <------------------

indeed. happy new year. And just a quick note to say I'll be away for the next 10 days enjoying the beaches in Queensland. Which means i'll check the forums occasionally, but won't be able to be in game.

So see you all upon my return!

Happy new year all, and see you around.

Happy new year :D

Watch out for the stingers Chez! And make sure you've got your bottle of vinegar handy or a full bladder to piss on yourself in case you get stung by the jellyfish!

To non aussies: Chez has gone north and if he's insane, he'll actually go in the ocean where the little box jellyfish and other nasties are swarming right now. ALL beaches have signs up warning about the dangers of swimming at this time of year. Take my advice, stay in the pool! Oh, happy new year

:P

Man, I live in Queensland. I've snorkelled the Great Barrier Reef so many times I've lost count, and never been stung!

Current Affair is not your friend.

That's the reef Caddies, not the beach!

The water is too rough near the coral but the waves and shallow sand beaches are just fine for Irikangi [jellyfish].

I've been to both, I lived in Queensland for a bit too.

Yes ACA is a miserable source of info but Chez -did- say he waqs going to the beach. I'd even hesitate to get into the surf down at Surfers Paradise at this time of year, been stung there before and boy does it hurt. :roll:

Lived and surfed on the beaches in question all my life. They aren't a worry.

You probably just got done in by a bluebottle. They're common, but not that bad. Certainly not a reason to favour pools over the beach!

Here's the buggers I'm talking about

Maybe it was a Bluebottle? [shrugs] but if I was north of Noosa I'd stay well clear of the water at the beach. Hell, I can't even go swimming at Cable beach now in Broome now at this time of year which is the closest and most decent beach to me :?

In the rest of the world it's winter, and cold. We can't go swimming at all. :(

Feel bad for us!
