-Notices hung around the Town Hall & Crone- |-Vote Reile

Greetings citizens of Sanctuary,

it is with great pleasure that I announce that I, Alexander Reile, shall be running for the position of an esteemed councillor at the end of Eleint.

I have been a citizen of Sanctuary for quite some time now and it becomes increasingly evident to me that there are some matters that we, the brothers and sisters of Sanctuary, need to work upon to be able to continue our existence in this place we call home.

Establishing ourselves as a military power within this place will be no small accomplishment but it is a goal we can reach for and achieve in a short amount of time. How many times have you found yourself sitting in your home, while some unnamed foe gathers at the gates, feeding your hopes and trust to the few men we have defending our home? I say we put this behind us and strive to make every single citizen of Sanctuary capable of defending his fellows against the threats that surround us.

It is through cooperation and training that we shall become a force capable of taking the fight to those who once claimed us as slaves.

I will make this do as my first offer of information on my wishes for Sanctuary but stay vigilant for more posters or speeches in the future.

In the hopes that we shall find ourselves working together in the future,

Alexander Reile.

Once again I greet you, brothers and sisters of Sanctuary,

it becomes more and more evident that we, the free people of Sanctuary, require drastic measures if we intend on holding onto our freedom. The lizardfolk are rumoured to be planning an assault upon Sanctuary and have been spotted scouting our settlement. Goblin, kobold and other beasts multiply like rats within the Lower quarter and claim a larger portion of our home every day.

What shall we do about these matters? Shall we trust that the few defenders which reside within Sanctuary will be able to rebuke any assault made by the lizardfolk? Shall we trust that the goblin and kobold of the Lower quarter decide to move away after they have bred to such a rate that we find ourselves sharing table and bed with them?

I say no. I say that every citizen capable of wielding a weapon be trained to use said weapon, be trained in working together with the other citizens of Sanctuary and be trained to fight the creatures that threaten our safety. Through cooperation will we find ourselves stronger, through brotherhood will we discover that we are all the same, through a common goal shall we be united again!

It will be my sole duty to ensure that every citizen of Sanctuary shall be able to defend himself against those that wish to bring danger to him. I shall strive to make all our enemies shake in their boots when they hear mention of Sanctuary.

You, the free people of Sanctuary, shall become a force to be reckoned with. You shall strike down lizardfolk, goblin invaders, kobold scum and drow slavers alike with the force of cooperation and unity.

Vote for Alexander Reile in the upcoming elections if you wish to make a stand against those who wish to take your homes from you.

Your brother in arms, Alexander Reile

Greetings yet again, fellow citizens of Sanctuary,

I wished to elaborate further upon some of my wishes for Sanctuary as they have apparently been misunderstood by some, including a Mr. Russell who is also running for Council.

It is not my wish to declare war against anyone surrounding Sanctuary. I have always claimed to wish to establish Sanctuary's defenses further and ensure that we shall become virtually impregnable by any of our enemies. At that time, we can start planning other measure.

My thoughts, for these other measures, include establishing a base outside of Sanctuary which can be used as a launch point for raids upon our enemies without drawing attention to Sanctuary itself. This base would be best established upon the Dark Lake somewhere, the Canal cleared out and defenses established there and trade between Sanctuary and the base could then be done by shipping through the Canal. These raids would mean increased wealth for Sanctuary, more supplies for our people, an increased population (by raiding slave caravans) as well as a significant boost in our morale.

Raiding our enemies trading routes would also mean that we disrupt their income and slave trade, weakening them hopefully to a state where they no longer pose a threat to our settlement.

I have thought that should the lizardfolk decide to attack our settlement, it would do us good to prepare a counter-attack upon their settlement once we defeat their attack force. Claiming their fortified position would offer us the previously mentioned base without having to go through the arduous, and expensive, process of building it ourselves. We shall have access to the Dark Lake through boating as well as an excellently fortified position, as I'm lead to believe the lizardfolk city is.

I would also like to add that I fully agree with Mr. Russell's wishes to reform the educational processes within Sanctuary and thus stabilization. Education is without a doubt the greatest thing that could befall our children, through it we shall be able to mold their minds to become the excellent leaders we shall require in the future.

I am residing at the Rock Bottom and shall answer any inquiries you might have towards my wishes for Sanctuary should you simply pen a letter for me there.

Your brother in arms, Alexander Reile

-A smiling man can be seen standing near the Crone, holding the following speech and afterwards, posting a draft of it next to Russell's on the board in the marketplace.

A few moments ago, I read a poster put up by Mr. Russell on the board here in the marketplace in Lower and would like to discuss a few points of my own in an attempt to rectify a few things my friend has got wrong concerning myself.

Firstly, I would never dream of forcing anyone to fight by my side in any of these raids I have mentioned. Those who shall find themselves assisting with these matters, shall be the men and women that are interested in doing so. I have seen the spirit of the people in Sanctuary and I am positive that there are plenty of people here that care to take up arms in order to assist in the protection of Sanctuary as well as the attempt to disrupt our enemies.

Secondly, I'm almost positive that the drow are equally incapable of remembering the face of every single one of their slaves, just as I am incapable of remembering the face of every single drow I have met.

Thirdly, I have followed the teachings of the Red Knight since I began my martial training and as such I am a follower of tactics and strategy. I am not a man that sends people to their deaths, I am a man that sends people to fights they can win.

Fourthly, I completely agree with Mr. Russell when he speaks of reforms concerning education and such. We all wish the best for our children but not all of us have the possibility to offer them just that. That is why I shall attempt to assist Mr. Russell in any way possible with his ideas to put up a proper school in Sanctuary and shall voice my wishes that admission to said school shall be free for all children of Sanctuary.

As for who to vote for in the upcoming elections. Do not allow any single speech to sway your minds, vote for the individual who has your ideals in mind. Speak with your fellows, speak with those you trust and discuss the possibilities each candidate offers. I have met many a citizen of Sanctuary and discussed my wishes and am still looking for more who are interested in heeding my words. If you are one of those citizens, I implore you to contact me so that we may discuss your wishes and how I can assist in bringing them to life.

Your brother in arms, Alexander Reile

Citizens of Sanctuary,

I commend the acting Council, as well as the former members of the Lower Council, on their efforts to reach a peaceful solution on the problems we had between the Lower and Upper quarters. It is invigorating to see that the people of Sanctuary can work together as a whole, trying to mend old wounds and attempt to become a united collection of free men and women yet again.

Having seen this, I have no doubt that the citizens of Sanctuary shall be able to defeat any foe that comes to our gates. The citizens of Sanctuary shall overcome any obstacle posed before them and their home shall become a bastion of hope and unity.

That being said, now is the time for action. Now is the time to work on our defences, together. Now is the time for us to show the creatures around us that believe they can invade our settlement and enslave us all yet again that we shall not sit back and let it happen. We have united and shall repel any enemy that finds himself at our gates.

I also wished to discuss further ideas I had for Sanctuary which I wish to implement should I be voted into the Council. I would wish for the Seekers to be split up into two groups, one dedicated to searching for "the way up" and one dedicated to scouting our surroundings and keeping an eye on our enemies. The latter group would undoubtedly be composed of a larger selection of Seekers than the former due to the fact that should we even find a way out of this place, we will need to know of enemy movements as well as the lay of the land in order to transport all those who wish to leave this place.

The Watch should gain further funds to allow for better equipment, training as well as increased duties in the Lower quarter and it's defence.

I would also wish to organize a group of highly trained men and women dedicated to assisting the Watch with any defensive problems within Sanctuary as well as taking care of any dangers outside of Sanctuary. These men would also participate in the raids I have previously mentioned and thus increase the power of Sanctuary and decrease the power of our enemies. There are numerous individuals within Sanctuary who have the capability to serve in such a position, these individuals found themselves perhaps as slaves within the Underdark but fought their way to freedom through the incredibly dangerous beasts that surround us. These are individuals who are capable of immense heroics and would serve well as the protectors of those who live in Sanctuary.

The future is bright for Sanctuary as it stands united.
