The betrayal: Journal of Bram

I had awoken early with a bad feeling in my mind. As i left my inn room and desended down the stairs i was met by a messenger from the local temple. After speaking to him for a moment i was off to the temple to speek with the priests about their problems with undead. I made quick work of the journey with my warhorse, Greeves. When i arrived i wasnt suprised to see it was a temple of helm. I was overcome with a strange feeling when i entered though but it quickly passed. The elderly priest becconed me to him and spoke of the deed to be done. A powerful necromancer has gained the power of the Necronomicon and has attacked a temple of helm on an island to the south. He has also began raising the dead of the tombs there. Helm will be most pleased with you if you will stop him and i will reward your efforts by placeing a blessing of helm on your armor. I told him there was no need for a reward but he insisted on it and i was off to the south. I camped on the shore for a couple of days making a raft from a forest not to far to the west. I patted Greeves on the head and told him to go home to my sanctuary and let out to sea. There was a small storm but i made it through. Would have been hard to swim in my armor. When i arrived i was greated by 3 priests of helm. "Ah bram, you have arrived. Come with us, we will take you to a safe route to get inside the temple." "Very well." i replyed as i followed them to a cave. As we approched the cave a few zombies emerged. "He must have found the secret passage we escaped through, we must hurry before he fortifies it" I gave a quick nod and unsheathed my bastardsword. As the blade emerged it became wreathed in bright red flames. I held it high over my head and charged the zombies. "The light of helm shall set your souls free!" i yelled as i charged the rotting corpses. Running right though them cutting the first cleanly in two, decapitating the second and ripping the last into five pieces. The priests praised me and we headed into the cave. "Wait, the necromancer is very strong, we shall grant you some blessings of helm to aid you." The priest reached in his robes and pulled out s bottle labled "Holy water". "This water has been blessed by the high priest of this islands temple 500 years ago, we have been saving it for a dire time of need and this is it." At first i tried to refuse but slowly they convinced it was the only way i would be able to get through the necromancers barrier. I put out my arms from my sides and they began sprinkleing it over me, and my armor. At first i felt stronger and then all the strength seemed to be sapped from me. I fell to the floor from the weight of my armor and couldnt move. "looks like i've got you now" the three priests said at once. "what... the?" The three priests then seemed to blur and then meld together into a single form. He stood over me laughing. A middle aged man, thin yet powerful. Long white hair hung neatly over his robes and his red eyes almost glowed. Skulls of humans, halflings and dwarves decorated his robes and his staff was made of dragon bones. He held a large black book. Its cover seemed to be made of skin from peoples faces who were stuck in faces of horor that moved around on the book. As if they were in pain and trying to escape it. He smiled at me, "i cant belive you bought all of that, Bram come to the temple the priests are in trouble, stop the necromancer" he broke out in an evil laugh. "all those people were me and you came right into my trap. I'm so sick of you stopping my plans time and time again, this time i've got my book and theres no way you can stop me." I looked at him in anger and tried to get up but my body would not even budge. "whats the matter bram? having trouble getting up? Here let me help you" he said smileing. He sent his staff twords me and my hands were bound, sword still in them. He then slamed the staff's bottom on the ground and a large hole opened up on the cave floor. "Enjoy your stay in the underdark, Bram. If you survive the fall." He broke out in laughter again as he pointed his staff at me again and sent me down into the darkness. It wasnt a long fall before i began hitting rocks and slanted rock formations on the way down. As i hit one against my sword, It broke free from my hands and fell into the darkness, slowly out of sight even with the light from its flames. After i was beaten against the rock formations and walls of the hole for a long while i reached the bottom. I lie there broken and bleeding to death when a man in robes stood over me. It was hard to tell what it was, everything was so blury and then went dark. Strangely i woke up in a bed. I was still prety beat up. I had bandages all over my body but i could move somewhat without much pain. A man in monks robes quickly came over to me when i attempted to stand up and fell on the floor. "What are you doing, you need to rest, your spirit is strong but your body is still broken" "Where is my armor? where is my sword, did you find a sword?" "Im sorry your armor was destroyed when we found you, dented and damaged beyond repair, we had to rip it open to get you out. We found no sword either." "Where am i?" I asked. "You are in the temple of helm of the sanctuary. Located in the underdark unfortunatly." We talked of the sanctuary and the underdark and i spoke of what happened to me for a long time untill i fell asleep in mid sentence. My body was still broken. After a long while of rest and healings i was back on my feet, though from the long period of rest i was a bit rusty with my skills. I began my life in the underdark, searching for a way out, to save the temple of helm from the damned soul of a necromancer, Cirus Blackhand.
