Eleint 8th :: Year 151 :: 1373 DR
This is the travel diary of Luther Ambercrown, Blade to the Crown of Cormyr, Purple Dragon Knight.
Yesterday, Myself, Baldev, One of his loyal kobold scout, Mxarob, the halfling/goblin Bo, Constable Stell, the dwarf Desil and the transmuter which name's escapes me at the moment were given the maps by Seeker Hauksen to a goblin slaver fortress deep within the Underdark.
Before leaving, a goblin stumbled upon the steps of townhall, it was looking to contact the goblins of lower.. and it didn't seem to be familiar with sanctuary at all, we followed it, and by its stupidity, it led us to a tunnel in the Dunwarren ruins ( which is now collapsed).
We started our journey downward.. to find more of these foreign goblin , after a quick questioning, we figured out they werent from lower, and were bringing barrels of alchemist fire into the city by the ruins of Dunwarren.
We dispatched this group, and continued farther into the tunnels, which led further outside the city. After walking miles into these tunnels and fighting our way with legions of goblin soldiers, archers, wizards, goblin suicide bombers, their hired ogre muscle and even slightly drunk hobgoblins, we find that the tunnel led close to the fortress identified by the maps of Seeker Hauksen.
At the frontier of the fortress, a huge detachment of 30 or so goblins, was waiting for us, with spell casters hurling fireball at our group, and soldiers trying to hack us down. We fought, and I was saved from the clutches of death.. by the kobold of Baldev, - After dispatching the squad sent for us. We made way toward the fortress, where we encountered more goblins pyromaniacs; our assault into the fortress as fire, nails, rock and ooze started raining above our heads from the catapults of the watch tower of the fortress.
Many left us behind as we were continuing through the venture, Desil had to quit midway, so did Bo.
We cleared the outer perimeter and started to make our way into the fort- things.. didn't get easier from there, goblin sneaks were everywhere, trying to impale our wizards and weaker members of our party at every occasion. We fought through barricades, with ballistas, goblin bombers, necromancers , wizards and legions of their armored stormtroopers. After a long stay within their halls, we finally reached the final throne room, where we fought the -what we thought- goblin King, and his ogre body guard, an enormous giant.
After the battle fumes cleared out, we noticed the king had fled the scene..
We searched the room to finally stumble upon a secret passage, which led outside. Following the tracks of the pudgy king, and disabling the traps he had set before us, it led us to a small hideout, where a goblin bomber started to run toward us as we approached- he was quickly taken care of from a distance. we surrounded the hole, and figured the king was down there from the discussion the guards were having.
we headed down to find that 30 goblin troopers, mages, and another huge ogre bodyguard were waiting for us- overwhelm by the odds, and the small battle space, our party was -almost- completely wiped out by this,
Only I and the mage which didnt had many incantations left at that point were left alive to take on the group.. which seemed at first like a suicidal venture. we went back up, patched our wounds, and prepared for the upcoming battle...
After thirty or so minutes of fighting, we finally came victorious over the horde, and dispatched their king, as well as raised our companions back from the dead.
We headed back into town through.. the tunnels sealing them behind us- when we reached the gates, we went to the seekers to explain our deeds and tell them about the tunnels, which were sealed sooner by their scouts.
Soon afterwards- battle broke down at the gates, Orogs were attacking.. but that is another story I will leave for later.
