Sergeant,
It is not a crime to have a drawn weapon and shield readied for battle while you threaten to attack someone? My mistake, it appears I need to read Sanctuary Law more closely.
I do have a heinous crime to report. My own person and several of my Stouthearts were nearly slain on a routine patrol of Barak Tor. There were several strong Chosen mages as welll as warriors, and as I promised to cast no spells in Barak Tor until it is warded it was a difficult fight. The warrior Gimball Harrenhock, Vuddar Mydur Thunderwood, the Alaghor Kivna Mountainrock and myself were sorely pressed, when we were cruelly attacked by powerful fireball magics that nearly slew us.
I used a wand of healing on myself and Gimball, then turned to see the red haired mage Sahern Mumford whom had attacked me earlier in the bazaar with a bolt of magic. The same man who did NOT go to trial for attacking me with a magical attack, laid in wait invisibly to wreak pain and death upon me and my Clan.
The Vuddar Mydur was invisible as he was tending to grievous wounds suffered during the battle with the Chosen, and saw Mumford attack with fireballs, then throw devastating magical bolts at me until I became unconscious. Mydur told me that he stood gloating over my prostrate form and said something akin to, "You know why I am doing this Rollo, and why you must die".
The brave Vuddar then healed me, and I sprinted away while the mage looked at me with astonishment. Clearly he did expect to see me spring from the ground when I had appeared helpless just a moment before!
He must have then left because we could not find him anywhere. I have the ability to cast a spell which reveals inivisible knaves such as this assassin, but I gave my word that I would not perform illegal castings and held true to my promise. Of course, I was forced to cast healing magics in desperation as my kin were near death several times during this altercation.
Sergeant, this man was allowed to go free before. Now he has made a brazen attempt to assassinate a defender of Sanctuary.
I trust that THIS time, he will face a proper trial and be made a proper example of Sanctuary Justice. And in the future, I would suggest that when a citizen is attacked with weapon or spell, that the Watch recognizes the danger in letting that person go with a fine and minor jail time despite the law stating that such are to be tried in Court and merit exile or stoning.
Perhaps my interpretation of deadly magic differs from that of Sergeant Fawkes, but any magics which injure CAN kill, and in Dwarven Law are grounds for retribution. As we are citizens of Sanctuary, I reserve hope that its laws will be enforced and will let the Watch do its job.
Good life to you ,
Thane Rollo Stoneshield
