Elient 6, 151 Council Townhall Regard Cult of False Flame

I am certain several of you are aware of this devilish cult. It is still active in the city, I slew one of its members after he ritualistically killed three citizens in Sanctuary.

The Cult has however, clear and strong ties to the Golden Mercenaries.

Its founder, former Tigereye Daniel Tane who went on to recharter the survivors of that band into the Golden Mercenaries was a member of the cult. This is confirmed in several Watch and Spellguard reports.

Three individuals have recently escaped the Watch House all in on capital charges:

Hill started a fire in his cell and slipped some paper in as well just prior to his escape. Originally, I believed the fire was a distraction to get his gate open but it appears now linked to a ritual to the "false flame" that perhaps summoned the spirits that helped him escape later. It may be Hill was inducted into the Cult by Tane when he joined the Golden Mercenaries.

Pravus also escaped a capital cell and has clear and strong links to the cult.

Only Fyne lacks a clear link to this cult, yet Fyne plotted the death of two Councilors whom I know have opposed this cult in the past and seeks a strange artifact that may be linked to the devil this cult worships.

In essence, the Golden Mercenaries pose a major threat. The should be dealt with, preferably by authorizing the Watch and Spellguard to arrest them and ascertain how wide spread the worship of this cult is through their ranks.

Furthermore, the Watch will no longer hold suspects connected to the False Flame in the Watch House: they will either require immediate trial followed by execution or need to be put under the watchful eye of the Spellguard which is capable of containing such devilish rescuers as may come for these cultists.

I reiterate, this cult is active and powerful. It recruits new members frequently, and I suspect it even corrupted former Private Lockwood (although reading through our reports it appears everything he investigated corrupted him). The danger this cult poses is not to be underestimated.

It employs the use of high powered explosives which it used to attack the Society of the Ordered Mind. I recall similar explosives were used to destroy the Comely Inn and explosives were used in a smaller attack against the Seekers and the House of Light. Their natural form of attack is through fire or weapons that create fire; but unnatural flame.

The Council must pass a clear statement making membership in this cult illlegal, it is connected to far too many crimes. Ownership of material linkable to this cult, or the summoning of demons and devils likewise should be outlawed. This will help the Watch and Spellguard to destroy this cult.
