If you cast an empowered spell to brew a potion, is the potion empowered as well?
Brewing Question
Negatory
Thanks. Unfourtunate, but thanks.
Is this something that could possibly be implemented? What about extended duration with extend spell?
You can only brew up to third level spells.
If it was to be implemented, you'd only be able to brew extended level one spells or cantrips.
Doesn't sound like it'd be worth it to implement.
It'd likely just be cheaper to buy two of the same level 1 potions anyway.
Unfortunately the way nwn items work are when you brew a potion, it grabs the nearest or next caster level from a limited ammount of item properties, therefore you can for example, only have Cure Serious (3) and say, Cure Serious (6) and you cant do 5.
The limitations are annoying and I hope, removed in nwn2. Please note that that above is an example, numbers are purely made up, any coincidence to them and any person in real life is entirely accidental.
Extended spells are only one slot higher, making second lvl spells also workable and could be very, very useful for spells like bull str and the like. However, I get the feeling that it will not be easy, so people can make do.
I only asked because having the healing domain I get automatic empowered cure spells, which makes them much stronger. It would have been nice if the potions reflected this, but for now, lets just worry about getting my brews to even work.
IIRC only healing domain clerics can make cure serious potions anyway since potions stop at spell level 3, and isn't serious level 4 for everyone else? Correct me if i'm wrong as I'm doing this off the top of my head, but thats a nice bonus as is.
Serious is level 3 critical is four, "heal" is what your thinking of its granted at level 5 to healing domain people instead of six. (spell level tht is)
yeah serious is lvl 3, lvl two for healing domain as well as heal at lvl 5 which makes a wand possible (I think).
ah well, thats the one. But you can't make heal potions but I knew serious wasnt the same level as it is for everyone else.

I don't think that you create potions by actually casting a spell on it. I think the system just works so that spells reflect 'ingredients'.
For example, to create a potion of Bull's Strength, you don't actually need to cast Bull's Strength on the potion, but it substitutes other ingriedents; The leaf of an oak, the hair of an Ox, a tail of a rat, a Fenberry and a few gallons Red Vodka. Or so to say.
Correct me when I'm wrong, I know I am often.
I think its a combination of the two. Spell componants and the spell. Which puts us in limbo.
Everybody LIMBO! :D
