Continual Flame

It'd be great if you could, prior to casting this spell use the voice commands to say /c *red and when you cast Continual Flame it make a red light rather than a white light on your item you enchant.

Yeah it would be interesting.

I'd also like to see CONTINUAL flame actually summon an extremely bright light emitting ORB if you target the ground with it. (model: will-o-wisp light, no damage dealt, 1 health, invisible)

Sort of like a non-combat summon that has a 24 hour duration. That you can tell to halt, follow. (attack makes it's AI just follow again)

Would be nice too if the spell dispels all darkness spells around it (but winks out when this happens)

even better if you can change it's colour before casting it also.

The thing about an invisible light source is I think it only emits light when you are in it's radius I think, otherwise it doesn't appear to.

Fish The thing about an invisible light source is I think it only emits light when you are in it's radius I think, otherwise it doesn't appear to.

Who mentioned an "invisible" light source--which is an oxymoron...

Chaos prism did.

Fish is correct in every respect.

And I think summoning a small globe is excessive, not to mention problematic, for the reasons stated.

I think the colouration idea has merit, but the summoning of an orb does not.

Continue Flame, as the D&D spell, is supposed to create a magical, non-heating fire that cannot be put out by conventional means roughly the size, magnitude, and brightness of a torch. It has an infinite duration, and only dispelling effects or antimagic can snuff it. So, a glowing orb with a limited duration does not really fit the bill.

I don't see why ya would want to change this spell. though the color thing I agree with.

There are enough light emitting items in the game already, honestly, the only stuff i have at the moment that doesnt have a 15m+ light radius is my armour and my freaking boots.

Well maybe continual flame should make a campfire without the oil when you cast it on the "floor" ?

The "orb" idea really refers to continual light which is an earlier edition spell, and no it's not necessary only an idea.

The "invisible" light source is exactly how the light spell works , you dont see the source of the light you just see it's projection which thought unusual is why it's magic in the first place. Casting it on an item is different, the item does becomes the source of the light.

The way light, daylight, darkness etc spells interact is one of those things that has changed from edition to edition. And computer games have implemented it differently when it's implemented at all.

*cough* nerd *cough*

Harlstar, let's just calm down. No need to get angry here. Just mellow out.

I see my cunning plan has almost succeeded: to be hated by every player and d.m on this server although I havent done anything to abuse or harm any one of them :D

Suggestions are just that, suggestions, you take them or leave them, even if 0.01 % of them change the way somebody thinks about something in a positive way then i've done my fractional bit to improve the server. Maybe you'd prefer I didnt say anything and made no suggestions, put no effort into anything, comment on nothing at all , just be a 'YES' man. I didnt think thats what this forum was for. As an old saying goes: Accept nothing , question everything.

It's suprising how little time it takes for somebody to get personal and/or abusive.

It was a joke. Calm down, take off the gass mask, breath, we're all going to die.

No need to go crazy, Harlstar. Simmer. Settle.

Lets keep this on topic.
