Chest Bashing v2

There are scripts I've seen utilized which allow characters to bash a door or chest with certain effects. Instead of actually damaging the placeable, a roll is made to see if you break the lock/kick in the door/pry open the lid and the container/door is unlocked and open for you, much like the unlock skill.

Now, as skillfocuspwn pointed out (in the first thread, locked seconds before I posted this), this whole concept of bashing locks is rather imbalanced for rogues who have to spend skill points, whereas fighters may simply use their strength or damage to the same effect. This could possibly be balanced by allowing the roll to bash only to be made once per reset on any given object. Given only one opportunity to bash, rogues would be much more reliable than fighters (especially if bash DCs are relatively high), but rogue-less parties may still have a chance to get at some of that loot or RP opportunities that they would be otherwise missing out on.

As for items breaking (if one is considering my suggestion), prying open a lid or breaking a lock is much different than obliterating the container. Unless very much jostling was a factor in your forced open attempt, there would be little chance of breaking even among the most fragile of objects I should think.

(Please don't spam nonsense on this again -_-)

So long as i dont see high strength fighters get all the big quest loot without using a roUge then i dont really care that it'd be bashing.

But seriously, massive DCs please.

I think what Secutor is suggesting is nicely covered already by the crowbar item.

Yes. That slipped my mind.

Damn.
