I found this to be entirely irritating, so here's another complant/suggestion/question against encounters.
I was exploring the Bowels of the machine, easy going. But I found that when I had returned from resting, the hallway was already refilled with monsters. I wasn't gone for five minutes! So I returned and tried to fight through and barely escaped alive.
I relize it isn't wise to explore alone but the rate encounters recharge is totally outrageous! Sometimes I clear a hallway and in my escape from monsters I find more that weren't there prior. I relize that the Machine generates monsters but I don't think it is that rapid.
So my question is this:
How long till the encounters reset? And can they be expanded, say recharge every OOC hour or so?

Dalek EmperorI relize it isn't wise to explore alone
So what's the problem? I realize it isn't wise to fight ogres naked with a pencil instead of a sword, so if I do it I don't expect to be rewarded for it.

But the pen -is- mighter than the sword, you can use it to record 100 damage on the orges character sheet before the fight beguins.
As for the nekid part, it might be a bad idea to do that with screenshots being a natural part of the forums, and the characters might not be too happy to hear theres nekid pics of them on the web >_>

My questions are:
How long does it take till the encounters recharge? And can anything be done to change that?

The answer to both questions is, from the general answers of the populas, no.

On one of my explorations further into the machine (the area had a very weird name, can't remember it), I noticed that the spawn times were ridiculous. Any time I left the area and reentered, everything respawned completely- it seemed a bit much. I agree with Dalek that they could be slowed down a bit.

okay the first question wasn't a yes or no thing! Can I just get an answer from a DM and stop getting so many weird and critizing messages.

These people are twits.
I can't answer your first question, and the second, yes, I'm fairly positive the encounter time can be changed. The question is whether or not the DMs feel it needs changing.
From the sounds of it though, I don't really think your concern is that legitimate. The server is designed to encourage players to group together; generally not to wander around by yourself and do whatever.
But I'm not a DM, and you seem to want a DM response, so, sorry if this response was entirely unwelcome.

I increased the time it takes for monsters to come back for this particular area.

If you just want a DM response, and not a discussion, send an email to the DMs. Otherwise, you're going to have other people reading it, responding, and if they feel it's warranted, criticizing.

I needed to kinda say something and i guess this is the same topic, so meh.
Is it possible for a DM to delay the spawn times IG?

Howland increased the spawn time in "This perticular area".
I assumed this was done during server down time as a toolset fixie. I mean, can you just punch in a few keys whilst the players are doing stuff to stall the highly annoying monster re-pop.
And yes, i do read other posts. I just didnt understand he-who-has-the-power-of-banning's post.
