Why can't we bash chests?
The reason I am asking this question is the simple facts that chests COULD be respawned when the quests resets. ...I know it kinda elimanates the need for rouges but hey they still have traps.

"Me big powergaming Orc! Me got 18 con and 20 str! Me bash chest, withstand damage, den bash chest more 'til me get loot!"
Somewhere, I've heard that bashing chests is supposed to destroy the contents inside. Does that apply to D&D?
Because it would be a -royal- pain in the ass to respawn chests when quests reset, -and- we like encouraging party diversity.

Use a rouge or just get some cross-class action. Bashing chests is over rated, anyway, can you imagine how many dwarves would be walking around with splinters. Impatent bastards.
Smashing a chest basically destroys all potions within, and has a chance of breaking a wand. (and anything wooden, porcelain, breakable) Even armors have a chance of being destroyed. (and shields) Scrolls can become irrepairably torn.
Pretty much GOLD is the only thing thats guaranteed to be left :D
I'm sure the d.m would be laughing at a wand breaking also :D , breaking a wand is one of the 101 things to NOT do in D&D.
