I was in a bit of a rush when I created my character and didn't edit the description. Is it possible to do this after the fact?

You can ask a DM to do it, but I think generally they are pretty busy for things like that. If the character is still new, probably best to remake them while you still haven't done much with them. Change the name by one letter, or an extra space or something, so you know the difference.

Yeah, i've had to do that several time with my chars.

Did you know there are actualy 4 Argos Balaedors.
