XP loss

This server is quite heavy on deaths, yes. Death is something that should not be taken lightly, since it can seriously affect someone. But this server is not about levels, it is about roleplaying. If you need help with this concept, I am sure most people would be glad to help you.

And That's pretty light.

I lost something like 5k or so at 6.

Best of luck finding another server. Death is intended to have major consequences here.

Maugh lost 6.4k to a HUGE Earth Elemental. Don't try it at home.

On another server, got used to losing two levels on death. Always (when respawning anyway). If that was not possible, character stuck in the fugue forever. So this one is kind of like heaven for me :)

In the traditional PnP resurectiona are not nearly as common as they are in NWN. Respawn is atool granted so you dont have to entirely scrap a character. Death sucks, amen

Yeah. Totally.

Best tip for avoiding exp loss: Don't die.

Dont go on dwarven expeditions. I'm never going on another, they keep making me level 3 again.

They are fun nonetheless!

As someone who in the past has died frequently with my main character I would say that yes, death stinks. But on the flip side I would say that your character will come back from the loss because mine has time after time, and that the death penalty is not that bad when you are under level 5, since you can gain that back in a week. After level 5 the penalty becomes a bit stiffer, since progression is slower. It should also make those characters with atleast normal wis/int stop and think about throwing themselves against any fortified gates.

I would also state that many of the threats out in the Underdark you can skirt and avoid if you have a good scout in the party. The frontal assault here means death many times, and with the heavy dm involvement you can often use many of the PnP skills that never get used in NWN to overcome problems in ways other than combat.

Try to think a little outside the NWN box, although the quests are scripted often the dms are watching and will respond to attempts to try alternative solutions to the obstacles presented.

And lastly, unless you are an uber sneaky halfling ranger, a gimped bard/druid build, -or- a coughing elf, try not to sneak around the underdark alone.

You can learn how to avoid death quick enough. Don't wander in Underdark on your own, always have enough supplies to keep you alive, make sure you have people you can rely on.

...And don't do the Gnoll quest with more than 5 people.

Dying in EFU is, ironically, a part of life. Get used to it.

Also, I know thats not the proper use of the word "irony", no angry letters please.

Dying in the Underdark is definetly expect (and highly annoying). But if it did not happen we would have a bunch of high level people running around and the game would not be as much fun.

To those of you who die often the best way I find to stay alive is: 1. Always travel with at least one or two people in the Underdark 2. Have lots of potions 3. Have a healer with lots of herbs 3. Stay away for that blasted Gnoll quest!!!!!!! (I have died there 4 times!!!!!)

Bah, gnolls aren't so bad. All you have to do is make *spoiler* noises.

Oh, that's not a spoiler? And the tactic didn't actually work?

<.< >.>

Nevermind.

a hint for spellcasters, don use your familar, got a shock one night when my familar died and i lost 800 exp, at least it was'nt that much of a drop

Don't use your familiar in melee combat, but do use them for any other purpose you can think of.

Yeah. The whole 4 Con thing on my familiar screams non-combat creature.

A good hit from a dire rat would kill him. :(

I like the low levels and the fact that nearly everyone is in the same level range. Witch also means that I pretty much love the exp system of quick to five, hard to six and a struggle to seven.

On a side note to the above talk of familliars, sometimes they're the only ones in your party that can save you - so you've just got to bite the bullet and summon them out. I know 'Shus' has saved my character a number of times from creatures that no one in the party could damage. The original crazy jane quest had no life saver amulet and that +2 acid damage on my familliar actually killed the old lady.
