Class specific items

We all love them. The instruments for the Bards, the specialist hunting weapons and sneaky gear for the Ranger, the Wizard and Arcanist rings. What other class gear do people want to see?

Fighters get little specialist stuff. They barely need it, true, but it would be nice to see them - perhaps weapons for fighters only with extra points of damage. Rangers and Barbarians get their belts and a few other things. Paladins - I don't think I've seen any Paladin specific items, which is a shame.

More holy tomes with one-use low level spells for Clerics would work well, I think. Book of Helm for See Invis, Book of Bane for Scare, of Ilmater for Protection: Evil and so on.

For rogues, they already get traps. I can't honestly think of much else that suits them as well.

Monks, I feel, could do with more things dropping. Meditation tomes, holy koans, as well as weapons they can use to beat the DR on enemies. (One other suggestion I liked for them was to code it so a Magic Weapon would affect an unarmed monk, as in PnP).

Any other thoughts, ideas?

Every class has class specific loot with the exception of some prestige classes. Some have more than others.

There are special monk outfits, amulets, koans, kamas, staves, boots, belts, and other things that already exist in the loot distribution chests already.

That said, more variety is always good and as time passes we'll certainly be adding more. I particularly like the idea of the clerical holy books.

As I've seen it, it seems a rogue cant increase his ms/hide much, and this is generally his base skills (although we could see rogues without it)

On the other hand, I've seen druids and rangers with stealth reaching up to 30 on lower levels then rogues.

Either its just me, or rogues get ignored somewhat with the items.

Adding the special shops for druids and rangers, and the ooc demand not to use specific ranger/druid items, makes it even greater gap, as the only items a rogue can use of other class, is oocly restricted (not sure why), while the others demand REALY high UMD.

I tried it with other items as well, although my UMD is maxed, most of the items a rogue can't use, so he is left with nothing but traps.

Now, traps are indeed useful, but as the kind of rogue is widely varied, from a thug, to a scout, and a lot others, I cant think traps is the ideal item for the class.

I am not asking for boots identical to rangers, only with rogues, but rather trinkets (As this, I think, is the thing defining rogues most, things like smoke which creates darkness, or black paste, which increases hide, a cloak which increases hide (though, not parma, but rather working on uses, etc.))

My point is, its an absurd that a ranger/druid gets higher hide/MS even within the city, while a rogue is more the city folk.

I don't know about rangers, but druids beef up their hide/move silently skills with spells they can cast, which are temporary. The druid equipment available is good, but not significantly better than the fairly common stealth equipment that drops randomly, and druids have to cross-class the skills to even get them.

There are potions and items with similar (and sometimes exactly the same) effects to the druid spells which can be found in-game.

I can only remember seeing one paladin-specific item that has ever dropped, and wasn't custom dm loot.

I've been offered 2 in my very short 2 week life as Eriseth. Maybe i'm lucky, or it could be that there's enough.

Shhh! We need more paladin items!

Eh hem....

Some more support for the Parry skill would be nice, and maybe the most basic of damage resistance items for Barbarians NINJA EDIT: But make it REEEEALLY rare?

There's lots of parry stuff around.

And damage resistance kit is worth a fortune beyond most loot.

I've seen lots of items to raise stealth and move silently too actually.

Yeah, me too, but somehow its mostly either a kukri, ranger-stuff, monk-stuff,druid-stuff... Have seen different items (I won't tell for it might be spoiler), but its rare. (At least it seems my rogue gets all the everything-you-don't-need/can't-use items, and Im just not luck, but that is not the topic of the post)

I have seen LOTS OF BARD STUFF

I'm having trouble controlling THE VOLUME OF MY VOICE.

This distressing problem aside;

I think there's definitely enough Class-specific loot sprinkled throughout the server, and certain classes receive a tad more than the others to make those classes a little more attractive.

The main problem is when certain items are tagged so that they aren't useable through UMD, and while I understand why, I still think it encourages people to take that ever-tempting single level of Ranger.

Made me consider it myself (right now I'm eating myself whether to take it or not (I do think I need it not, both IC and OOC but, then again, sometimes things arn't fair, also you can't possible know if its un-UMD tagged or not) )

Not unless you have high UMD, and can't use it, you mean.

I mean that it is not fair that I can't know if I would be able to use it, had I higher UMD.

This becuase I can't tell whether the reason I can't use it is my lack of UMD or just DM tagged so I wouldn't be able.

Also, I cant see the reason why items are tagged so anyway?

That's not specifically a problem though, especially if your UMD isn't high enough. You're not going to know enough about the item to know specifically whether or not it will be useable in the future.

What is the reason they are tagged?

One should somehow find out, perhaps a lore check, but somehow...

I don't see the reason they should be tagged so =X
