The writtings of Arminas Oronra

*A bound red leather book with the cresent moon of Corellon Larethan upon it written entirely in elvish in a flowing practiced hand.*

I find myself in a dark place with little light to guide me. I have escaped the tourture of my foul kin and fled deep into the darkness of this underdark. My life till now is one of great personal study and learning for I was not always a slave, i was once a scholor and teacher. Long ago far from this place I grew up in the house of my father learning the mystories of magic and its secrets and of how its power can shape things in our lives for better and worse. While I learned of such things my father spoke at lenght of Corellen Larethian, the creator of our kin and the power wielded by the deity. It was the path of the cleric I choose much to my families delight and for many long years I studied the power of the cresent moon and the teachings we as clerics of the god must live by. Years past, life times of men slipped by and still I studied. Kingdoms rose and fell, great battles fought and forgotten before I took the greatest step of my life out to learn of the world.

My journey started as many do, with a chance meeting. Upon one day in the late evening I chanced upon a young human male assualted by Orc's. Badly wounded and hopelessly outnumbered the man would surely die. I went to his aid and together we prevailed over the beasts. His name was Elegost, a ranger from the northern limits of our forest home and after much discussion we decided we should seek our futures and destiny away from our homes in the wider world. That night we set off into the world with hopes and ideals that alas may yet never be fully realised.

Some years passed and Elegost became a formidable warrior and for my part at least I was able to assist him. One day we came upon a band of Drow rounding up slaves for transport to their dark citadels. Our attack was well planned but doom to fail for we had not known of the others the Drow had with them lying in wait in case of attack. Captured and seperated, taken by differnt roads we where never to see one another again. That Elegost still lives I do not know but I have hope that he does and has made his escape as i have.

Freedom. A gift many overlook without realising its true nature. To be free is the greatest gift one can have and mine came to me by chance. Attacked on the road to the Drow's fortress the cart in which i was carried was knocked from the road and thus left me undound. I ran, deep into the darkness, tripping and tumbling as i went, down deeper into the blackness. I found myself in a cave with a strange deep dwarf speaking of ancient maps and a city of freed slaves. I followed the cave and gazed upon a sight I did not think to have found. A city, Sanctuary its name i have now found. A city of freed slaves of all kinds and of all peoples. And so begins the next part of my tale, for now I live free once more in a place of other freed souls seeking many things. I will stay here till the time is right the leave it. Until the call of the surface lures me back and Corellon see's fit to grant me the wisdom to follow it true.

For the most the folk of this town seem fair and honest, but alas this is not true of all. Alike with most of the world at large there are those who seek only to cause pain, hardship and suffering. Names i will not give nor actions save to say that one must be careful walking the streets for the darkness is full of danger and so easily it can claim you.

Things seem to progress well here and I have been blessed by Corellon by wahy of use of the 3rd circle of devine magics. I pray i can continue to do the will of the creator and be a useful servent. Dark days fall on this city woth danger lying round many corners. The local law and certain parties in the lower city seem to be at odds and while I have in part been caught up in this, it is not my concern nor my duty to solve these troubles for i have no authority to do so save in the proyection of innocnets and my own life should need arise.

Blood stains the streets of lower this night. Returning from aiding a local merchant our group came upon a battle between a large half orc and a number of men. The orc blood with our group ran to aid the other perhaps through loyality to his kin or because of a friendship of some kind. Both where slain and by one way or another the belongings of the one with whom we had travelled where passed to our care. I have never seen so much carried by one before and alas it seems much of it came from the deaths of others for amoung his things where several of these stones that allow us to be seen as citizens.

With each death there is a new beginning, for within every seed is the promise of a flower. Words that I have long remembered from the time my mother first spoke them and how true thay ring even down here where there are so few flowering things save the darkness itself. In this case the flowering is of my own power through Corellon as I have progress down the path before me. Learning new skills and finding new friends, this can be seen as a new beginning for I have found a place where I can in some small way make a differance. I have begun the art of potion brewing and while I detest the idea of making profit from such an activity it is a nessesery evil for life is not cheep in this dark place far from home. Perhaps i can put the moneys earned to some greater use. I have always thought to build a hall of learning much like that in my homelands. A place where all are welcome to come and share knowledge and to strive for common goals. Perhaps the coin I make from the brewing of potions will allow me to finally relasise that dream. Only time will tell and it is still such a small ideal but even the mightest of the great trees must begin as a simple seed.

I have left notices around town offering my services as a potion brewer and It would seem thay have been seen. I have recieved a letter from a member of the city watch or so I would gather asking for a number of potions. A service I shall be more than happy to perform bearing in mind the fine job the watch and its sister group the CDL seem to do within the city. With luck I can be of great use to these organisations in performing my duties and perhaps thay can lend a good word or two with some of the council members when I begin to build on my ideas for a hall of Knowledge and learning in the city. All things in time, as is our way but there is something to be said for the hussle of the humans ways. While short lived thay achieve much and that is commendable. I have few great friends in this place yet but have made some interesting beginnings with some. Lady Ahrra and Zephyr are fine warriors with great skill and noble intentions from what I have seen and others like the few fair folk I have met are good and pure of heart in the most. Others are yet stranger, the man Kyle who speaks in our tougne seems to be an honourable man then I have spent little time with him or the others to be fair. There are those in this place as with any that one would not wish to be associated with but alas it can be unavoidable in such a confined place as this. But as always we can only decide what to do with the time that is given to us and so I shall carry on as I mean to with Corellon's blessing living in hope that good will prevail over the darkness.

While this place is cloaked in darkness at all times teh light can still be seen though it is much harder to see than would normally be. Souls of good intent flourish here and those who would stand against the dark are found in great numbers while those that skulk in it and pray on the weak fight for their own needs or wants with little or no purpose. Still I find this a strange place and long for my home amoung the great tree's and plains of the surface but for now this is my home and I shall make the best of it that I can. I have come upon some interesting items that i can not use and tried to sell them on but was not succesful but time is a thing i have plenty of so i am not troubled. Work on potions cntinues but alas i have been unable to create any newer kinds but so far the process is succesful and I have been able to supply a good number to local law enforcers which gives me hope that I have at least heped in some small way to keep law in preferance to this city.
