Pretty sure it was a purposeful change. The fall is, you trade off an entire level of spellcaster for the ability and in the end, its a really pitiful trade. The undead summoned by Pale Master's should be fearsome and instead its rather piddling.
While not brilliant in combat, animate dead is HUGELY useful.
Having the spell allows you to animate the bodies of other characters. When Marvolo was alive, he made full use of the ability by raising undead construction workers, animating dead paladins, etc. It is my understanding that there are even plans to have the spell revised, providing a scripted means of animating dead PCs.
If you really want to make the most of the Animate Dead spell, try speaking with a DM. I'm certain that you won't be disappointed.

Thanks for the input. I have something like that in mind for the future. Right now it is just a way for my character to get lynched in a hurry. I would like for him to be able to defend himself from the angry mob before causing its assemblage.
The spell Animate Dead has been changed for EFU.
There are no changes that are specific to the Pale Master class, as far as I'm aware.

Thanks for your response. I saw the previous posts on the animate dead spell but was unsure if this change affected the class feat or not.
If the DM team ever needs a player to test and/or give feedback on changes to the PrC I would be happy to assist.
