G’dark to you. I have seen many of your flyers about upper pertaining to vacancies within the Civil Defense League and had some questions. I am a former guard within the noble city of Port Llast, and am very interested in your flyers, however I am very confused as to the roles and responsibilities pertaining to this CDL. Perhaps you could elaborate on this?

Also, I would like to ask what the difference is between the roles and responsibilities of the CDL and Watch is….as opposed to other law enforcement or security factions such as then the Lower Sanctuary Footmen, Golden Mercenaries, Shadow tribe, Cave Worm Clan, etc?

I do realize that I am new to this city; however I am attempting to gain some understanding of the hierarchy of the organizations that work to keep us all safe from the creatures and beasts that lurk outside our gates. Furthermore, I am seeking to apply my skills and abilities to contribute to the continued protection of this city.

The Civil Defense League acts as an official militia and auxillary arm for the Watch. It bulks out the regular recruits when they need it and is invaluble in information gathering operations and patrolling. IT is also an excellent testing ground if you wish to join the Watch proper.

As for the differences between the Watch and the defense organisations of Lower: We are official and legitimate. We are not a tribe of barbarians of kobolds. We are not a bunch of former gang members of mercenaries. We patrol and guard Sanctuary effectively, and have done so for the past 151 years.

Thank you for your time elaborating on my inquiries. There can be little doubt that multiple law enforcement and security organizations under the cognizance of separate leadership cannot be good for Sanctuary as a whole.
