To Sergeant Marshall at the Watch House

[Left in the lounge, sealed with 'Sergeant Marshall' written upon it.]

Sally,

I wager that you are busy at the time-being, but the Society is in need of some assitance. You may or may not know that there is quite a bit of mysterious activity happening in and about the Windy Canyon. The Thin Road was drastically widened, and there is a bridge being built across the canyon's span. Nobody seems to have any idea who is having these spontaneous construction and earthwork projects undergone, but due to the proximity of the canyon to the Sand Caverns (I am rather certain that there are tunnels in the Sand Caverns that actually lead out into the lower parts of the chasm) you can see that we would have some cause for concern. It may end up being threatening to Sanctuary as well.

Megara and I are devising a plan to cross the unfinished bridge so we can explore, cautiously, the other, egnimatic and unknown, side. We need to get some ropes between the two segements of the bridge so we can hastily construct something to climb or walk across. The only way I can see to actually get ropes to the other side are the following: having the druid, Evelyn, while in the form of a bird, fly them over. I fear this may not work, for getting into contact with Evelyn is oft difficult, and she may not be able to fly in the wind. The second is to attach the ropes to a ballista and launch them across. The hope was that you would be able to lend us a Watch ballista and assist us using it, then come across with us as you please. We may also need a cart to get it out there.

You know I would have you along even if it were not for the ballista. I hope that the matter is of some concern to you amid all of that -- Watch stuff you have to wade through.

Awaiting your reply, Laramie
