A letter to Bern left at the Beacon

Miss Bern

Sir Tommy has commissioned me to try and remove the Spellguard wards from the Beacon establishment, and I will give my upmost to see them properly removed.

I do, however need to know the history of the establishment. Since the last fire, has the Spellguard taken the opportunity to re-ward the walls? How extensive was the damage, and how were the walls refurbished?

Wishing you success in your venture Varius Leonard The Crone

Freeman Varius:

I'm so glad to know you'll be around the Beacon more! Please co-ordinate your efforts with Seeker Denten. Denten is a Gnome and a wonderful engineer. Between the two of you, I'm sure we can get that blasted thing up and out of the Beacon.

Most of the old records are undated. Please give me a cycle to sort through them. The fire was the most dramatic vandalism, but the building has a long and colourful history of damage. Most letters from the previous administrators to folks like the Spellguard or Watch don't seem to have replies, but I think I saw a repair note or an invoice for repairs somewhere. At any rate, I'll figure out what's been done since the fire.

Good dark,

- Bern.

P.S.: Please don't call me "Miss Bern." It means something very specific down here in Lower when that's used between adults. I'll tell you about the old Comely Inn when you have time for a break. It's an interesting story.
