My hands tremble as I write this.
The candlelight that I write by flickers in the wind, and I mourn for those who have fallen. Heralds tell me Arabel has fallen, and my father with it. Suzail is a place a strength, and the fate of Cormyr may yet be bought back from the brink, yet I fear I shall not be lucky. Lionar Hearten gave orders to hold, no matter what comes from the dark. Yet I find myself wavering. The darkness seems to thicken around us, and I feel as if it could come out and grab me. The light dims, as if the darkness itself is fighting savagely to put it out. I can hear horns in the distance. It appears our ruin has come at last.
Helm save us.

Well met, and congratulations upon surviving the War, and upon your recent promotion and Knighthood. I wish they could have come in better times. You have my deepest regrets about your father. He was a well respected man in the City, and his loss saddened us all. He was a well respected man in Arabel, and his presence in the City was greatly appreaciated as the days of the War loomed. In response to your request, it is my task to inform you that it has been denied. Promotion to Lionar, fitting to your status as it may be, will be impossible following the incident. And I suspect you very well know. You are hereby ordered to return to Castle Venas and serve in the personal service of Lord Venas untill it is deemed you are fit to serve at Suzail. Appeal is automatically blocked. Accept what honour lies in your position.
