This suggestion wont be popular with purists, and keep in mind it is only a suggestion so have a think about it neutrally before you clamp down the irons of judgement.
Due to the way the game scales the chance of getting hit for massive damage (or just for damage that will outright kill you from monster criticals) goes up.
Maybe the -10 needs to scale itself or be based on the victim's con.
Possibly - (12 + con bonus)
or Possibly - (9+ Character Level/2 rounded up)
This will give other party members a few more seconds (ie the same amount of time a low leveler usually gets) for somebody else to help them, save them from the grave.

well it would give good reason for a healthy CON bonus...and I think it's in optional rules PHB...and it's a house rule at MANY tables

There's a feat in D20 modern that means you don't fall unconscious if you go into negative hitpoints (I think Boromir had it, and possibly Bruce Willis). It's either you just don't or you have to make a save, I'm not sure. It would be an option for those who are really bothered by it, although I have no idea if new feats are addable. Probably min requirement Con 13, I'd say, and possibly the toughness feat as well.
Just an idea.

The feat spawn is referring too is called "Die Hard" And exists in 3.5 as well.
Its pre-req is Endurance. It allows to you remain active during the time your normally bleeding to death. Its sounds alike allot of extra scripting. Creating a new feat and playing with the death system and all. I don't think its worth while to have, nor I do think it would add anything to the server.
As for the topic at hand, I like -10 being the limit. Its plain and simple and it works. Con wicked stat anyway, you don't need to convince people to invest points into it. The benefit is clear, more con= more Hp, More Hp=stay alive longer. So this suggestion is in fact already part of the game. I can see no reason why we would need to complicate a perfectly functional system with this.
I've said my peace.

Isn't this pretty much a da capo of this suggestion? In any case, the -10 value is hardcoded, so it can't be implemented. Blame BioWare.

If you really insist on making suggestions: make one that is possible.
When you take damage that will "kill" you, ie drop you below 0 HP. People can get an automatic save of some kind that only drops them to 0 and not below if they sucede. Otherwise, damage as normal.
That that I'm really for this either. In normal DnD, you die when you go to -1. Our NWN system here is using an optional rule to let you go to -10. However a save is easier to implement than to try to go past the -10 hard code.

Normal DnD?
PnP doesn't kill you at -1.
And I'm still against messing with the death system in anyway.

There's no reason for this suggestion to exist at all, either. If you were going to post, it should have been in the thread Kotenku started, because that's where this discussion has been going on anyway - and it may be moot if it's hardcoded into the game engine anyway.
Edit : 100% moot, it's hardcoded into the game engine. Sorry folks.
