Grazzt-prince of darkness Chaotic Evil-Grazzt is a powerful demon lord who uses charm and cunning unlike most demons and is skilled in magics as hes consorted with many evil witches. He enjoys sacrifices. most preists animate the dead they sacrifice into shadows that guard there temple. The highest ranking cleric (called a chosen.) Is always female. People who worship him often use a wavy blade of some sort. His domains are demonic darkness and evil.

Orcus Demon prince of the undead. alignment Ce Orcus is a dead demon lored who has returned to life. He despises all things but himself preists often wear skull masks and maces with a skull as its head. Orcus demands sacrifice preists of him are called skulls the high preists are called skull lords when a high preist gets enough power he calls himself skull king or queen. Churches are often decorate with bones an skull s. Vampires and liches often worship him and many necromancers.

Archdevils all alignments are LE first and sixth layer have no worshipers at all They are at political war with eachother and more organized then demons so there not killing eachother off rather using politics to manipulate to there advantage.

Dispater Lord of the second Layer His churches are often well defended fortresses and like the iron Duke the chuch members always have escape routes in there fortress. they favor an iron mace as there weapon as Iron is important to the duke and those who follow him. Preists of Dispater are often very defensive and would never allow themselves to be backed into a corner.

Mammon lord of the third layer Hes a power hungry schemer covered in riches. CUltists worship him as god of greed and Lust therefore his cultists are also selfish and cruel. Alters to him are always completly covered in gold and jewls those who sacrificed to him are often sacrificed by a blade of pure gold.Cultists often are covered in fancy jewlert abd get there money from wherever they can.

Beliall lord of the fourth-His daughter Fierna technacly rules the fourth layer by standerds however Belial really tells her what to say when it comes to politics Fierna just uses her title to attract other devil males. People worship him as a patron of dominance trickery and secrets sometimes preists use the ranseur. Churches to him are often with marble halls and very elogant and there alters have black abd red candles and yes he demands sacrifice. Domains Trickery, knowledge and evil LevistusLord of fith-Killed the Wife of Asmodeouse(badass ruler of hell a bad mistake of Levistus.) So Asmodeose sealed him in a block of Ice. Levistus still rules his layer of hell but is imprisoned in a block of ice his clerics favor the rapier as Levistus won many battles with it. THey view him as a god of Vengence and Betrayal. Part of respect to him is getting a cauldron and placing boiling water in the cauldron then dumping blocks of ice and melting the ice blocks.

Mephisopheles lord of the eighth layer (yes this is the devil from Hordes of the underdark whos really badass.)-ruler of cania and inventor of hellfire most of his preist use hellfire. most churches are devorted with fire and have this set up where you can place a sacrifice into a pit in which you turn it on and burn the people you wish to sacrifice alive. Devil worshipers and those fond of fire worship him. Curently Mephistopheles wants to be the true Duke of hell.

In my opinion, I don't think Demon's or Devils granting spell automatically is a good idea. If you want to play a cleric of one of these fiends, then I would rather see someone send in an Application for them.

Devil Lords and Demon Princes in Faerun cannot provide cleric spells as deities can (According to the Book of Vile Darkness). There are however special powers that they can bestow upon worshipers that come in the form of prestige classes, such as Disciple of Mephistopheles, Blackguard or Thrall of Graz'zt. I am fairly sure you have to apply to be a worshiper of a demon or devil other than Gargauth. (More people should play worshipers of Gargauth!)

If you want to be servant of one, then get in touch with one. Who said there aren't any?

Orcus is listed in the monster deities, isnt he still a demon lord? He used to reside on the first layer of the abyss.

Gargauth definitely was a normal arch-devil who made the leap to deity. He's a deity of corruption and betrayal. so you can see why they kicked him out of hell :) Although I dont know the exact ascension details it's probably his betrayals that gained him his current power and status.

Tiamat herself was much the same (according to some lore), she used to reside on the first layer of hell.

I'd like to see the celestial beauracracy (kara-tur) , zakhara (think a more extensive calimshan area - arabian nights etc), possibly even the maztica deities as well.

All these pantheons exist on the world of toril, and although these areas are a long way distant , it's still possible some characters could have found there way from those areas into sanctuary.

Who said Gargauth is more powerful than the other devil lords? Divine beings can be weaker than outsiders. Mask is terrified of some demon dog... thing that hunts him.

That 'demon dog' is one of the major evil beings of the world, very powerful.

Also yeah I think an app would suit this much better then adding them to the diety list. I think demons and devils would be slightly less known then a god.

The demons, and the demon dog though predate gods. They existed in the darkness before the gods came to create the universe. So they are powerful, ancient, evil beings each and every one.

Orcus came back, as Tenebrous and then he killed Ultimus Prime (No shitting) and rebecame Orcus now god of Avarice *and* undeath. He's an undead/demon/diety. I think he's starting a death metal band next.

Asmodeus is so powerful its not even funny. More powerful then the gods by the way, heard somewhere he -was- one of the first entity to be created.

Kesef owns you! Kesef the chaos hound scares god exactly because he -can- kill them. Torm gave sacrifices one of his hands simply to -chain- him, which dont hold for long.

Also, if I am not mistaken devils/demons have VERY little power on the material plane, most can only use their best stuff back in their home plane.

Book of Vile Darkness does say -some- of the archfiends can grant spells like clerics but not all of them can. Also their powers work way differently in the ways you get them in the start. Some of which are pretty nasty and twisted.

I believe there's a feat that can be taken in P&P that will let a cleric get spells through the second or third circle from an arch-devil/demon. I don't actually know the name, so I'm not help. It would be interesting to limit the amount of divine aid they could give, however. An ambitious wizard who devotes himself to Asmodeus could get first circle spells if he's particularily loyal, etc. I believe one of the knights of House <spoiler> devoted himself to <spoiler> and was granted a few levels of cleric spells, although I could be missing part of what happened.

A devotee to an arch-devil or demon prince can be amazingly well done. I played with a thrall of Grazzt on Cormyr/the Dalelands who was simply astounding, but I've also seen them done rather poorly. My vote is to make them application only.

The mythology goes that TYR offered his hand to fenris for some reason to show his good intentions, and fenris decided to take a bite to show his bad intentions. Tyr and fenris are from norse mythology; along with odin, thor, hel, freya and loki. (tyr is mentioned as an interloper deity to toril) I guess kezef is the D&D alter-ego of fenris.

On his home plane, its presumed nothing can defeat Asmodeus.

It is presumed that nothing can defeat Ao except his own master.

1) Ao serves Asmodeus.

2) Ao is Asmodeus.
