I have a question that may have been addressed elsewhere but i have had no luck in finding an answer.

Having played on a couple PW servers before most have a set of perma death guidelines. For example CoA put the implementation of perma-death down almost completely to the player. You can be excuted, PVP killed etc. and still respawn, if thats what you want to do.. though obviously many still choose to make it perma if the death is 'good', ie your IG nemesis, big plot line etc.

I have picked up from comments on the forum that on occasions in EfU a player is 'told' that a particular death is perma-death.

Now i guess that DM's would always have the final say, but are there any, guidelines or ideas that the DM's stick to?

Is every/almost every PVP death perma?

Is every/ almost every DM event death perma?

Most DM events are NOT perma-death events. When DM events are perma-death events, the DM will either let the party know ahead of time that if they die, they are permanently dead, or if they die in a very specific way, the DM will alert you that that death was permanent.

If you are ever curious as to whether a certain death represents perma-death, feel free to shoot a tell on the DM channel to ask. Often, being sacrificed to or by powerful NPCs, having your brain eaten as a consequence, and things of this nature lead to perma-death. But if it isn't clear at the time, just ask.

As for player versus player conflict, a DM ruling is also advisable. But if another character is clearly assassinating your character to get rid of you for plot-specific reasons, perma-death is preferred. If you're not sure whether that instance was meant to lead to perma-death, ask the other player whether their intention was to take you out of the picture entirely. If you're not happy with the decision you reach with another player, take it to the DMs.

In terms of PvP, it's worth noting that other players can not perma-death your character -- but respawning from PvP _is_ strictly against the rules, and we also ask that people respect when a body is hidden somewhere.
