Eleasis 3, 151 Orison Seeker Headquarters Regard House of Light

To previous knowledge, you claim a position within Lower Sanctuary. Please inform me if this is no longer the case. However, I present a concern on behalf of Demetrius Bhast that his property has been stolen, namely viz. the House of Light.

While Mr. Bhast does not entirely object to a change in management for the House of Light, the previous management proving incapable on several occasions, it is his desire to maintain possession of his property and ensure directly that his investment in Lower Sanctuary for the benefit of charity, education, feeding, and housing maintains at a consistently high and moral level.

Please respond with an indication of your ability to discuss or lend aid in the reclaimation of this property and its restoration to its proper condition vis'a'vis ownership.

Respectfully,

Barrister Fawkes

Mr. Fawkes,

You have my personal assurances that I will do my best to ensure that the property of the Beacon, formerly known as the House of Light, will be used to the "benefit of charity, education, feeding, and housing" and at a "consistently high and moral level." To that end, the involvement of Demetrius Bhast (who seemed to do little other than order the property closed from time to time) will no longer be necessary.

The property is still his by law. I expect that resistance to this matter is to be expected and that you as well as the Seekers are taking a direct stand against matters of law within Sanctuary?

Respectfully,

Barrister Fawkes

Mr. Fawkes,

I do not speak for the Seekers on this matter whatsoever. However, I am afraid that according to the law of Lower Sanctuary Demetrius Bhast does not own that property. If anyone, it'd belong to the gnomes of old Dunwarren. If not them, then it belongs to the people of Lower who have overthrown the tyranny of Upper and established their own system of government until such a time as their demands are met and Sanctuary can unite.

If Bhast is as charitable as you claim, I think he'd welcome the fact that the property is finally being used again, in a peaceful way that doesn't offend the people of Lower.

Firstly, Demetrius Bhast does not care who manages the property-provided that it is maintained as a charity.

Yet, the building in question is a monument to his dead mother. Surely you are not so heartless as to take a son's memory. All that Demetrius Bhast desires is to maintain his hand in this charity, the previous management perhaps failed the people of Lower-but the simple fact remains that this man has given much to charity, and what he requests is to be allowed to maintain this property as a charity.

To steal from that dedication, on the grounds that you do it for the "people" is not generosity but some strange hatred for the person of Mr. Bhast. It is Bhast who built the Peace Lift, Bhast who dedicated food, shelter, supplies to the people of Lower, it is Bhast's hand on the Council that urges restraint against the rebels of Lower Sanctuary.

I am suggesting that this building be used as a gift to Lower Sanctuary's people, but more than that that you allow Demetrius Bhast to maintain the gift he's given so that it can do more. The money, the supplies, the charity that can flow from the House as a gift to the people of Lower Sanctuary will be greater with Mr. Bhast's hand behind it.

I am curious how you can claim to reject his compassion for the people.

Respectfully,

Barrister Fawkes

Barrister Fawkes,

The name of Demetrius Bhast is associated by the people of Lower with the Spellguard, with hypocrisy, with tyranny, and with Upper subjugation and interference. His name, or the name of his mother, is not trusted. The Beacon, under our management, has been opened and is being used as opposed to before where it was closed and under constant "renovation." It is presently being used as an effective charity. That is all that matters, and I see no further reason to continue this series of letters.

If you and your master wish to reclaim the Beacon, the only way for you to do so at this time is by force of steel, which we are prepared to meet. If your interest truly is charity, then you're welcome to stop by and I'd be glad to show you the improvements that the Lower Council are making both with the Beacon and with other matters.

While I do not concede in any manner the legality of the theft of this property from its rightful owner, I will accept an offer to meet with you to view the "improvements" of the House of Light and Lower Sanctuary in general.

Respectfully,

Barrister Fawkes
