*tacked to the door of the former House of Light*

This building is known as The Beacon.

In the lands above, beacons are fires lit on hills or high places. They aid in navigation and warn of enemies approaching.

Here in the darkness below, such physical light is dangerous, as it leads enemies and predators directly to us. Here, we must guide ourselves and each-other by our wits and strength.

This house serves the people of Lower Sanctuary and the Canal.

It is a place of rest for the weary.

We provide the penniless with a warm and safe place to sleep and a bowl of stew to fill their bellies and strengthen their bodies. Healing, both divine and mundane, are available to all.
It is a place of learning for the curious.
Our library is open to all and is constantly growing. Copies of books and maps are available to the public for a nominal fee. We teach reading and other things that aid our survival in the Underdark. In tandem with other groups in Sanctuary, we organize discussions and mapping expeditions. The subject matter chosen for discussion will be neither censured nor censored.
It is a place of strength for the daring.
Our training rooms are open to all who wish to learn how to defend themselves. We hold friendly competitions in Sanctuary. We organize rothe hunts and caravans, which, as everywhere, must be guarded.
Let this house be our beacon.

*the addition seems to be in the same measured handwriting as the formal notice, though it looks like the writer didn't take the notice down to make it*

Members of the former House of Light are strongly encouraged to contact me, either in person or in writing. Do not wait for me to get through the roster. This is your formal invitation. Your help rebuilding the Beacon and resuming its work is urgently needed. I frequent the Pissing Crone and usually show up in the Rock Bottom twice a tendark.
