It came to my attention during a quest boss fight yesterday that Stoneskin might not be effective as the spell description (and Mechanics Changes forum-posting) make it out to be.
The Remaining Damage Reduction which an instance of the Stoneskin buff provides appears to decrement in response to some event independent from receiving physical damage. The unknown factor may be Time, and that somehow as the spell fades, the protection lessens.
On two seperate occasions I engaged a single mob in melee to observe this event, each time with stoneskin on. The first time I waited five minutes or so before engaging, and noticed, upon taking a hit, that roughly half of the total protection had faded before I took a single blow.
On the second occasion, I cast Stoneskin immediately before engaging and noticed that I appeared to have full protection of the spell. Additionally, as the battle progressed, the protection provided decreased in response to combat damage (as expected) and also in response to some unknown factor.
I did a quick forum search and didn't find anything in the Mechanics changes regarding this, so I hope it isn't redundant; thanks.

What is your caster level? (class level that cast stoneskin?)

Sorceror 8. The duration is not what I'm contesting, it's the amount absorbed that seems to deminish oddly.

define oddly? down to 50, 40? from a new cast? had you got shot or anything?
We could do with some values to know how low it got, and so on. If you chat log, it'll be in there.

I'd love to see some screenshots of what's going on if possible.
My guess is that it's absorbing the 10 physical damage correctly until it reaches a point where the total damage it can absorb has been nearly reached, and it absorbs whatever points are left.

Eowung casted Stoneskin during a duel. I do not have any screenshots to post. Perhaps later on I might be able to make some.
It started out as following:
She was a L7 cleric: 70 damage soak.
I hit her once for 7 damage: 47 points remaining
I hit her again for 4 damage: 26 points remaining
I hit her again for 6 damage: 17 points remaining.
I hit her again for 3 damage: Stoneskin breaks
It was pretty much like this. Irregular as hell. Both Eowung and I were gravely surprised. I couldn't detect any kind of regular break-down.

There's nothing in the spell script that leads me to believe that it's intentionally diminishing the amount of damage absorbed as time passes (except when the spell expires).
Does this occur on other multiplayer servers or in single player, or is it exclusive to EfU?

That's odd, since nothing has been changed.

Some sort of lag issue?
(Thus, sometimes works and sometimes not? Yet, it doesn't make any sense)
Perhaps the type of damage done, or I don't know =X

At least, it seems to be fixed. Cleric-domain stoneskin used to act all buggy.
Druid's is fine for sure. Mage's I'm not too sure about.

They're all the exact same spell script, I think.

I think this is just a random engine weirdness.
