Highills campaign posters

Citizens and valued customers. For those who do not know me, I am Frum Highill, of the famouse highill emporium

To begin with, I should declare my intentions. I have no noble house to play politics for. I have no gods I pray to for divine blessings. I am a simple merchant - a simple man of the people for the people

I have four main points on which I believe I would be able to serve the people well if re-elected to council.

I have four specific points to my election campaign:

Number one, a plan to return order to Lower, and maintain it.

Number two, trade. More trade, not less.

Number three, corruption

And finally, number four, justice. as it has always been. Not Tyr's justice. Not Moradin's justice. Not some noble house's version of justice. But SANCTUARY'S justice. The justice which has served us for a hundred and fifty years.

First is lower, i belive if we are to be stronger we must co-exsist as a whole, i still maintain that a lower watch should be stationed there, its recruits, the people of lower, its head, an elect of lower, but still co-exsisting with the upper authorities.

Second is trade.I will continue to strive for trade as trade is vital to Sanctuary. Some people would advocate cutting off trade with those they categorize as "monsterous". What is monsterous about coin? Coin to buy your fungusbread. Coin to buy a bit of rothe for your daily meal. Coin to allow you to share a quiet pint of ale with your friend. There is nothing wrong with trade, so long as it does not endanger our city. Cutting off trade is a far greater danger - and one I will not accept.

In this second point, I promise to you that I will see that council provides funding for seeking out new trading partners. Why, we have kobolds at our gates. The small scaly folk are famed as miners. Surely there are warrens about who would peacefully trade their mined ores with Sanctuary for our goods. But how many council expeditions have there been to seek these warrens out? These are not our enemise, my valued customers - these are potential customers for you and me! Kobolds are but an example. Any settlement that will peacefully engage in trade with Sanctuary must be approached. There surely many comunities about who would peacefully trade with us - but who do we have? Fort Mur, the traders at the Blue Mushroom and the duergar miners. These are all "monsters" as some would call them. Think on that for a moment. The coin in your purse and the food in your belly has likely passed through their hands. Look to your swords, armour and weapons. Are not these things that keep you safe, the product of those some would call "monsters"?

Trade is our lifeblood, my fellow citizens. Do not think for a moment that we are not cutting our own throats by curtailing trade with our neighbours.

In addition to seeking out new trading partners, I intend to see that funding and tax breaks encourage the development of our own resources. The more Sanctuary has produces, the more Sanctuary has to trade. Is it not reasonable that we grow more of our own food or mine more of our own ore? I do not plan this out of a fear of our neighbours. I plan this to increase trade with our neighbouring communities - to increase our mutual wealth.

So there you have my Second point. Trade. Not less, but more. Coin in your pocket and work for your hands.

Three, corruption it seems can rot the very core of any authority, how to stop this, tenday reports of all arrests, logs and reports, seconded by another member of the same authority, overseen by a ranking officer of the same authority, a buffer if you will, one man can easily be corrupted, but another and an officer is most difficult.

Also monthly examinations, of any person in office or of any ranking postion, by the ordinants of the ordered mind, incase of any infestation.

And finally my fourth and last point - justice.

Yes, the word which brings both fear and happiness to many.

I intend to do what i said i was going do last election, absolutely nothing, we cannot tar all the watch with the same brush, our justice system is quite adequate, if a bit over-stretched. The machine which provides the justice, which in turn provides peace for our streets is not broken. Our noble watchmen keep our streets safe as they can. The Spellguard animatrons tirelessly guard the gates. Criminals are fined, imprisoned and when necessary, executed.

The system works, my valued customers. It has worked for a hundred and fifty years. I will not tinker with a system that has served us so well for so long.

And so there you have it. Four simple points.

Remember good people of sanctuary, Vote Highill for a good deal for all.

Citizens,

It is not my intent to smear the campaign of a colleague. Nor is it my intent to turn your vote, to myself, do not think it such. This is not my attempt at campaigning for myself, nor do I want you to believe that I harbor any ill will towards this honourable halfling.

However, I feel you have the right to know that as a Councilor, Frum Highill has been entirely inactive in the matters pertaining to your lives. He has gone periods of up to three weeks without so much as a single word being spoken, in regards to any matter at all. When he does speak, it is only to propose some sort of new trade benefit to his shop, or to attempt to procure land for himself.

Citizens, please. If you do not vote for me, I cannot change your mind. But, for the love of sanctuary, do not waste a Council Seat with this Halfling. He will not represent you.

Highills plan of "Number one, a plan to return order to Lower, and maintain it." will bring war upon Upper.

Do not let the relations of Lower and Upper fall into the hands of the inept !

In my defence, many of you candidates talk of doing this and that, but none have mentioned any plans for doing such,i can say i will rid the city of corruption, but how?, and counciler archibald is not one to talk, it was he whom turned on the idea for a great libarary to be bulit, to educate all citizens, not much has counciler archibald achived in his short term also, and as for my time ill, you can hardly hold that against me, indeed it was some time , but it was by far fault of my own doing, and i do wish if you want to slander my name, purchase your own parchment in which to scribble upon.

Yours Faithfully

Frum Highill

This is the last I will say on the matter, for Councilor Highill has raised a point against me, that I wish to address.

Yes, I voted against allocating Council funds to build a library. I felt that during a time of Civil Unrest, and a chaotic lower sector, coupled with starving citizens, that a Library would be most unwise. I felt that the money taken to build it, was best utilized in other ventures.

As for not getting things done, I suppose he overlooks the hundreds of children who lived in my estate, or the Orphanage that was built for them. Or perhaps he has not seen the Archibald Refugee Camp. Or my work, in seeing the Sheriff brought to justice. Those of you who were present know that it was my decision to call the Tribunal which led to the Sheriff's exposure as a fraud, and a slaver.

Honestly, Councilor Highill. If you wish to speak out against me, at least use proper facts as I have done.
