The relations between upper and lower are the main concern of our time.

You need to choose with care who will have the duty of settling the situation. An ignorant who knows nothing about the mind and heart of Lower cannot solve the problem, history has proven this. A fool who believes that only violence can solve the situation will put at risk both towns. A man without ties and relations with Lower prior to the election cannot solve the situation.

That is why Deauxfortes is the best choice. Deauxfortes, born in lower, knows Lower. Deauxfortes has worked hard, serving the Lower Council, to better relations with the watch and spellguard.

Now he selflessly proposes himself to act on Upper's behalf as Councillor. His good relations with key people of Lower will enable successful negotiations which will benefit both sides.

Communication is key. Deauxfortes is the man for the job.

Unlike many others, Deauxfortes was born in Sanctuary. He lost his family to the plague which afflicted the town not long ago. Unlike many other candidates - who have recently arrived in this town, Deauxfortes heart truly lies in the town. He has endured the same as you have, and he understands you.

Defence is also very important. Deauxfortes, although not an expert tactician, is gifted in war. He will not be a councillor who cowers in the town hall when the city is under threat.

His knowledge of Lower is vital for defending Sanctuary. Although seperate, they rely heavily on each other. Again, cooperation and communication is key.

But most importantly - Deauxfortes is a man who will do what the People of Sanctuary want, for a Councillor must represent the will and desires of the people.

1. Justice One of the important parts of any town is how Justice is managed. Until progress is made, both upper and lower are the free havens for criminals wanted in the other town. Deauxfortes believes that this must be changed. Laws will be made so that both towns will have their justice, but will also help each other. Criminals hiding in Lower or Upper will brought back to the other town. Files will be exchanged and the Justice system made more efficient.

2. Children The Children of Lower and Upper are our future. Deauxfortes believes that we owe them care. Although most orphans are in Lower, Deauxfortes believes it is also Uppers duty to do its best for the Children. Agreements will be made with Lower in order to ensure that the children are not forgotten.

3. Communication The people of sanctuary must stay in touch with their Councillors during their term. All too often does a Councillor get elected and then loses all ties with the people. Deauxfortes believes that the people must regularly express their desires. The council must do what the people wish. Deauxfortes isn't a councillor elected to be a dictator, he is a man who wishes to do what is best. Deauxfortes will ask for opinions on important matters. Communication must go both ways. Information is difficult to come by. The new Sanctuary Times is promising. Deauxfortes believes that it must be funded and expanded in order to keep our Town informed. We can only benefit from this.

4. Economy When there is too great a divide between the rich and poor, there is conflict and violence. Since our economy knows no regulation, the poor are placed in a situation where they cannot defend themselves politically or economically. Only the state can intervene in favour of the proletariate. Deauxfortes is a man from the proletariate, and therefore will defend the greater interest of the downtrodden.

Prices of first necessities, ie : food, drink and weapons, must be controlled to avoid disaster. The state will find work for those who cannot find employment. Zhurkfarming, because of its importance for all, will be taken out of the hands of the greedy individual owners, and put in the hands of the hardworking majority of the proletariate. Collectivisation is survival.

5. Finances Deauxfortes will defend the people of Sanctuary from the greedy and selfish. The bank's surcharges is draining your savings and putting people at risk from thievery and banditry. A state bank is needed : a bank with no profit or gain, just at the service of the people. A new ruling for the belongings of the deceased - if no one is to inherit the wealth, it will be injected into the Council's funds, to furthermore better your lives.

6. Food Another great problem for the poor. Although Upper doesn't suffer as badly as Lower, some still wear rags in the streets. How this town tolerates that some feast whilst overs starves is beyond Deauxfortes. A people's soup must be put in place, for the poorest of Upper.

To the Attention of Citizens of Lower Upper legislation allows you to vote ! Vote for Deauxfortes if you wish to foil the plans of some of Uppers who wish to manacle Lower as it was once. Fight the Reactionaries by voting Deauxfortes.

To the Attention of Citizens of Upper Lower is Independent and shall remain so. Whatever the other Candidates promise you, Upper will have no influence on Lower's shaping. However, its relations with Upper are uncertain. If you wish to see a lifetime of unending conflict and miscomprehension, vote for some fool. If you wish to see effecient treaties and peace and organisation, support Deauxfortes ! Although a Lowerman, he has the heart enough for two Towns. Lower is not longer to be feared, but to be respected. Electing Deauxfortes is the first step towards greater welfare.

The time to vote nears and Deauxfortes wishes to answer certain accusations made against him.

The Hin Saroki which is currently slandering his name was found guilty of plotting to cause mass murder of law abiding citizens of Lower - Deauxfortes did only his duty of Golden Mercenary and administered lenient punishment for the crimes considered.

After asking the followers of Hoar if his actions were unjustified, he was told they were legitimate.

Deauxfortes delivered a speech in which he developed his ideas about the importance of correctly handling criminals, of defending the town by creating the fastest possible channel of communication between Upper and Council, himself and touched important subjects like how a state non profit bank would allow citizens to hold onto their wealth without paying for the greedy capitalistic duergar's, Fathand, meals. He then went on onto the subject of protecting the inner market by imposing tariffs on imports, in order to favour the trade from within.

On the subject of Faith

Deauxfortes is not a picky man. He is not a man, unlike many other candidates, who will despise you just on the basis of your faith. He is a man who is able to hold compassion for those of all faiths. He judges a man not on the precepts of a god, but on his deeds.

Do not let yourselves vote for religious bullies ! Do you believe they serve the interest of the people of sanctuary or their gods?

In the mass of the proletariate, the individual matters not ! With the Deauxfortes Doctrine, the greater benefit of the mass is your greater benefit ! Your faith and your identity should not be your downfall ! Every man and woman and child who can wield a spear or work is worthy of this town ! Vote for Deauxfortes ! Vote for the Mass ! To the attention of the rich and the filthy rich

You have doubtlessly understood that Deauxfortes wishes radical change in Sanctuary, to end the unfair suffering of the poor, those with only their children which they can call their own.

This does not mean however Deauxfortes seeks to destroy your lives. Nobody can be blamed and accused of success. Yet if you call yourselves true men and women, can you bear the sight of ragged beggars even in the streets of Upper? Have you not sympathy for the unfortunate, the downtrodden?

If you believe you have a heart, vote for Deauxfortes, in order to create a prosperous land for all !

The creation of a council bank will help the poor avoid losing the result of their toils, and the import price taxes will promote their sales - but you can gain much to by voting for Deauxfortes. The one fifth fee means that the rich lose a lot when placing gold in fathands bank. Import taxes means you will be able to sell your goods cheapest.

On the Subject of Fear

Citizens, do not let yourselves be scared into voting ! Those who use fear to win votes are scum and are taking the first steps of a tyrant ! Threat surrounds, of course. But does that make him or her a better councillor? If you let yourselves fall into the trap of being afraid when you read a poster, then you are in the hands of the worst scum !

Ignore those who tell you how you should be scared out of your asses ! Deauxfortes believes all must be brave, and therefore refrains from using such base methods to gain votes.

It will be the armed fist by which Sanctuary will answer to all threats ! Composed of all, with the unique function of defence, it will ensure the cities' safety as a whole and nothing more ! No corrupt law enforcement or other.

Perhaps Deauxfortes is handsome. Perhaps he isn't a man who can use words to make hearts go on fire and win votes, but he's a hardworking and strong man. He is a common man, a man of the people.
