This was delivered in the Town Hall to a small crowd.
Hello. Many of you may know, that I am a former councilor. After my term, I did not run for re-election. I was frustrated with the slowness of the council. I saw so many needs, and at times felt helpless to meet them.
However, I have come to a realization. If good men do not stand on the council, then evil men will take their place. Corrupt, greedy men. And so, it becomes the responsibility of those who care about the good of Sanctuary’s citizens to step up, and do what they can.
I realized how important it is to have good men in the council when I saw Sergeant Jastran Moonfall outside in the cage, about to be killed for her bravery. When the children of the orphanage were… murdered. When people in both Upper and Lower Sanctuary continue to die because the council has not reached an agreement.
And so, once again I am running for council. Not because I desire power, or popularity, but because I care about this city. And I will do everything I can to protect it.
I will continue to stand what I have always stood for. While in council, I strongly supported the Seekers, and I am proud to have done so. It was the Seekers who gathered the evidence against Walters, along with evidence I gathered while in the Council from Sergeant Cail Durris, which exposed his corruption and saved Sergeant Moonfall. It was the Seekers who destroyed an Orog slaving group, leaving no survivors, and returned their captives to Sanctuary as free men. It was the Seekers who acquired a purple crystal during the plague, and continue to provide free healing to all with it. And it was the Seekers who went to Lower’s gates to repulse the Orog invaders, saving many lives. I am proud of my decision to support them, and I will continue to do so.
I believe that we must reach an understanding with Lower. Only through cooperation will Sanctuary remain the stronghold and portal to the surface it is meant to be.
I will push strongly that we pursue the slaving operation uncovered when Walters was exposed. We must continue to free our friends and families from our enemies.
I won’t go on longer. My past speaks for me, and I will remain an honest, hardworking man who cares for Sanctuary, whatever the outcome.
I will leave you with an urging though. When you vote, Sanctuary, vote carefully. I spoke earlier of corrupt, greedy men, and they are seeking to gain power here. Gibbon Meldren is one of these. During the plague he stood back and laughed at those suffering, asking them to bow to his foul goddess of poison. He has stood here in your own town hall and demanded gold for healing, when it is available for free in the Seeker’s Hall. His greed and lust for power drive him now as he seeks a seat on this council. Do not give it to him, Sanctuary.
I ask you to join me as we seek a new dawn for Sanctuary.
