Letter addressed to Durthag Brighthammer

Master Brighthammer,

While your distress over the potential of illithid infiltration is heartening, the manner in which you have sought to combat the threat is remarkably inept, coming from an individual who has always favoured foresight and planning over reckless abandon.

I had hoped that the irony in posting public bulletins urging citizens to "not let them know about your suspicion, lest they direct their attention toward you," would be painfully evident.

The Watch and the Spellguard are conducting a joint operation to detain and question individuals suspected of being under peripheral control. Think before you act next time old friend. The bravado and blustering of the Chapterhouse has no doubt sent our quarry running for cover and made our job immeasurably harder.

Private Greyward

[the reply is scribbled in an obvious haste]

Private,

I advise to look beyond the painfully evident to find the plan.
