Alright, for those not aware: I've got a little cult thing going on in game. :wink:

Part of the schtick is that my character approaches impressionable young people and escaped slaves about joining. I was thinking that perhaps people who may want to make characters that *could* be interested in joining the cult may want to run through a one night "event" I'm working out in my head.

The idea would basically be that all the players are "newly escaped" slaves just arriving in Sanctuary when they meet Mandarin. Looking for work, and to learn a little of the town--he'd take them aside and send them to do a few simple quests, and then ultimately try to get them to join his cult.

The players of course get to roleplay the entire thing, deciding ultimately if they'll join or not, and get to do a few quests/learn a little about the setting.

I'm thinking it'll be a great start for new players wanting to see the server, or a few older players just looking to get involved with something new.

Now, does this seem like an idea that has merit to anyone?

Alright, I did a test of my idea today. It went pretty well although of the three quests I wanted to do; none could be done by myself. Ironically.

To the guys who went along though, any ideas suggestions for improvement? I want to hone it down before I unleash a fully fledged night of it. I'm guessing it'll be a longer evening, maybe 3-4 hours of roleplayed quests.

From what I saw, the dogma was well implemented in the confines of the quest. It was refreshing to see that approach rather than the "Join us or die" approach used far too often. I had such a good time, if you need ancillary figures to help, I'd be willing to lend whatever you need.

I didn't see any obvious weaknesses in your approach. The dogma you offer is so well tailored to the quests that it sounds like it could very well be true.
