[A letter to Councilor Tyrell]

Councilor Tyrell

I know you to be a woman who is fond of compiling databases of information.

As it is, I am seeking out information related to Malar, specifically, the Beastlord's Dogma. I am in need of this information to hopefully turn a man away from the path he walks, or at the very least, show him what he follows. I think it to be a worthy cause and any help you may offer would be appreciated.

If you can offer whatever you know on Malar's Dogma, I would be much obliged.

My thanks

Ivandur Reynolt

Dear Ivandur,

Malar is the violent and aggressive deity of the Hunt. Although he enjoys a wide following among hunters and common folk on the surface world, the number and magnitude of extraordinarily dangerous creatures that lurk within a mere stone's throw of our settlement here has resulted in his devout following in Sanctuary being comprised primarily of daring adventurers who are willing to risk life and limb to "hunt" in the tradition Malarite fashion, or those who take the Hunt in a more metaphysical or abstract sense.

Traditional Malarite hunts are usually conducted without extensive planning, elaborate precautions, or any ranged weaponry. Although religious records are scarce, excerpts survive from works on hunting written by devout Malarites:

"The pounding and throbbing of fresh blood can be felt in darkness as in light. The Hunt does not cease in the depths. It is more alive and vigorous than ever. The Drow who shackled me in the chains of slavery will be torn limb from limb, hunted and slaughtered with no remorse. This is the salvation that has been promised to me. Their blood shall be my warpaint and my holy water." - Khelechus, scribed in Year 98

"To kill from a distance, like a cowardly elf, dishonors your prey and yourself. To kill through trickery or deception is a dishonor to the principle of the Hunt. Blood must be paid in blood, claw with claw, and hand with hand. Only in single combat against a worthy foe, hand to hand warfare, shall the strongest survive and breed and prosper to rule all the lands below. This is the way of the cycle, and shall never falter. The meek and cowardly shall serve to train the bold and strong by being slaughtered." - Sage Edrics the Torn Talon, written in Year 72

I hope that this information assists you in your task. Should you have any more specific inquiries on this subject, do not hesitate to reply, and I'll see what else I can uncover.

With the blessing of Oghma, Councilor Adelia Tyrell

Councilor

Thank you for your aid, I think this will be of use to me.
