I don't know weather to place this as a suggestion or a DM question. But is there, or can one be made, an area where all the Waste Barrels contents accumulate over time? It would be a great place for garbage raiders but it would have to be very well hidden.
And random objects, or stuff from the Dunwarren.

Garbage barrels empty automatically for an in game reason. At least the one's in Dunwarren all do.

There are also trash piles that -don't- empty.

I would actually like this quite a bit. It annoys me that when people find things like the Libram of the Snake they go "This is of such great evil that it must be destroyed now with no objections!" And then drop it in a bin.

i fail to see the problem if its something there charecter would do cause if it is then there not lickely to drop a necromatic item somewhere where a passing person can pick it up.

well in this case a bin that destroys the item inside. man i would pay good money for one of those in real life.

There are bins and garbage piles already existing which destroy and allow for accumulation of disposables, respectively.

The other option is to actually have places where items are truly destroyed.
Like a furnace somewhere, fixed sphere of annihilation, portal to an outer plane whatever :D
It makes a good rp hook to have to travel to somewhere in sanctuary where you KNOW the item is destroyed. Almost like a ceremonial dumping.
Evil plotters could also intercept this journey if they feel the need. :)

Seriously. Svirfneblin techonology. They don't just disappear inside those waste barrels for your convenience. There are in-character truths and mysteries to be explored here. We don't need something that teleports something far away or destroys it or turns it into something else so it can never be retrieved, because the waste barrels in Sanctuary already do one or all of those things.
Although, it is true that there's no way of knowing whether items put in waste barrels are truly destroyed, or merely put somewhere else or some such. Holy men seeking to destroy objects of ineffable evil should seriously consider whether such an undertaking is as simple as dropping something in a magic barrel.

If anyone wants to test out what actully does happen, make a halfling and jump in, don't forget the screenies. Beforehand you may recieve a message from the dms along the lines of "The Svivniblim are not responsible to any sprains, cuts, bruises, or accidental death, dismemberment or swallowing of your soul during your trip into the bins, have a nice day"

Hmmm, I was thinking of a cheap DM quest where a halfling is stuff into a wastebin and has to escape the other side.  Just an idea

I just had an idea: the waste is turned into constructs...How else does the Machine always pump out fifty new golems everyday?
Ah well, I'll get online as my dumb charecter (Nott Vere'Brite) and we can kill him and stuff him in the Waste Barrel, see where he ends up. I know if you put a corpse in the trash pile and say revive then you will appear to 'pop' out of the trash, quite amuzing actually. I'll probably appear back at the Masoleum but I don't know.
And it doesn't matter I normally use Nott to explore the Underdark on suicidial runs. :D

Hmm.. fixed speheres of annihilation. We could even install them in the toilets to fix two birds with one stone. But halflings and gnomes beware... best to use a toddler seat if a gentleman seems to have had bad aim recently.

Instead of a Waste Barrel, or a Donation Bowl, the temple to Ibrandul could have a Deep Pit - to toss the cash into, as their dogma asks. Combine the two!

Donate trash? heh
Also, would Ibrandul want items with negative energy? (Im not Ibrandul expert:P)
Umm, as far as we ICly know, these trashes COULD actually deliver items to another place ;) Perhaps had the dms chose a certain trash, and only it, to actually transfer the items to a special place (perhaps even a place in Qeust Area, so it looks like loot :P ) would be nice, IF there is some IG legitimate reason for that.

I know there are a lot of posts to read on this forum, but the DMs have already hinted that there is something going on with the waste barrels.
So I guess what I'm saying is... Why are we still discussing this?

Good and evil are fairly arbitrary to Ibrandul, so he probably wouldn't be too bothered. He's a neutral god.

This is way off-topic. Please discuss all in-character mysteries in-character, and not on an OOC forum.
