[letter to the Sanctuary Times]

Greetings. Submitted below is a story I'd like to see printed in the next edition of the Times.

Inept Tyrants or Orchestrated Illithid Conspiracy?:

The Spellguard have always been shrouded in mystery and secrets ever since the day they have 'graced' Sanctuary with their presence. Are they really protecting us though? Are they truly securing Sanctuary? Many would say: Of course they are. They've animated the old Svirfneblin Technology. They've successfully bolstered the city's magical defenses. Rubbish, I say!

Where were the Spellguard when Councilor Nogueyra was secretly channeling all paperwork and files ever stored in the City Hall to her Mind Flayer Master Intryzz?

Assuring us that she was not an Illithid Thrall, of course!

What did the Spellguard have to say to me, an expert on Illithid Detection Technology, and member of the Society of the Ordered Mind on the subject? Agent Nikitovich was rather frank to me, for a man who has no idea how to use his own equipment. He told me, I'd never be able to understand the Mind Probes that the Spellguard are in possession of, and that furthermore, undisclosable secrets that power the core of their Mind Probe, which may as well be a wand with the spell "Electric Volt" inside it as far as their talents are concerned, will never be available for anyone outside of the Spellguard to ever be used by.

Citizens, this is absurd. The Spellguard are inept, the Spellguard have failed you, and the Spellguard are to this day propagating their abuse of the weave by denouncing anyone else of magical expertise with good intentions of reform access to their equipment. Furthermore, when questioned on the subject, former Spellguard Agent, and now elected Councilor, Alexander Archibald refused to submit to the Society of the Ordered Mind any information about what is being done to ensure no Illithid Thralls ever manage to make their way into the Council again, or for that matter, exist as Current Spellguard Agents!

Rise up. Demand an Inquisition. Demand that the failing smoke and mirrors game the Spellguard is using to control this city is diminished. Demand that the truth be revealed! Together we have a voice - and so long as my body still draws breathe, I will not rest until this city is safe from the Illithid Aberration Threat, and that the city as a whole can be guaranteed our Civil Servants and Defense Organizations are free of Illithid Thralls.
