Scripted Trolls

This may or may not have come up before but I have played on a server where they had trolls that behaved like real pnp ones.

When you "killed" them they simply fell over winded as if you'd knocked them down. Unless you had acid damage or fire damage on your weapon. (special on-death script?)

Also if you had a torch in your off hand you could finish them off as well by hitting them when the torch was equipped. When in this "finish me off mode" an acid bolt or such would do the job also.

And if you left them "winded" they'd regenerate and get back up again and keep attacking :D

It was really well done, the scripts for it may be on the vault somewhere.

I love that idea! If it can be, it should be implemented. The trolls on EfU have very little to distinguish themselves from the other "common" enemies. As chaosprism said, that's how they are in PnP anyways.

I am not sure how much wood you should expect people to be carring around to burn. Its not like we've forests to plunder from. Plus alot of the "torches" in efu are not nessesarily on fire. Which could be a potential scripting issue. Plus any means of fire or acid should be able to the same things as a measly torch. Besides, walking around the underdark with a torch is idiotic anyhow, light is good, but fire has a tendancy to cause gas pockets to explode.

I think Trolls are fine as they are- they dont need to be invincible to those without spells+sparks+fire.

Of course, this is only my opinion, it doesnt count for much.

I am investigating non-clunky ways to implement this.

You don't need a cord of wood to destroy the remains...just any fire or acid damage. Besides, they shouldn't jump up with full hp, just what regen will give them. You plan ahead to fight Chosen or undead (at least if you're smart), so why not have to prepare or improvise to fight trolls?

Anyways, can't wait to see what you come up with Arkov!

P.S.--you might want to notify everyone if this gets implemented, or it could be a rather nasty surprise! :wink:

I think there's a bioware script that allows this, i'm sure I saw it in Shadows of Undrentide - another thousand peseta's on the table for you. (We'd adapt it and improve it, borg like of course).

it is in the throne of bhaal. game. it is still a bioware game that is set on Pirates coast...i fogot but it is an a fogotton realms game. the scripting should be the same.

While we're on the subject of trolls.

There are 3 different standard colour models for trolls, and I was thiking these should probably actually be three different species of troll. To me standard swamp troll shamans would still be green.

For the RED troll, the much more difficult to defeat (and exceptionally rare) fire troll would do good , its actually immune to fire and acid (scary huh) but is finished off by cold. (they are also vulnerable to cold and take more damage from it) Lives in volcanic areas. Though they are related to normal trolls they do no venerate vaprak the destroyer, (they usually follow surtr if they are religious at all and often share territory with fire giants)

The BEIGE troll (with tattoo's/paint) could actually be the CAVE troll (which probably is the species you'd see in the majority of the underdark) They're supposedly more territorial and feral (barbarian trolls), stronger and also more pious to their deity vaprak (so more powerful clerics/shamans of vaprak amoungst them) They are not expansionistic however and quite superstitious about totemic markers and omens, Although they could quite easily take over vast areas their superstitions keep them in check . The more powerful races of the underdark wipe them out when they are found close to the settled areas when they do resettle as a tribe (usually as a result of an internal schism over misinterpreted 'signs' and 'omens'). They still have the same weaknesses (fire and acid) and regeneration as normal trolls they're just tougher, stronger and more dangerous. (Level 8 Cr as opposed to Level 6 Cr for swamp)
