after looking through the post about summon monster spells ive had an idea in how to work out themes for wizards simply base the monster summoned on the school of magic the wizard specialises in (with non specialised getting the current list) the easiest one to do would be Necromancy (just lots of undead things)but i believe that other monsters could be assosiated with the other schools of magic as well (such as a school that has lots of fire based magics getting fire based creatures and so on) so what does everyone think?

So correct me if I'm wrong but this suggestion can't be carried out, although different summoning themes are obtainable by other IC routes.
Anthee, my [spoiler] wizard whos school of specialization is:[spoiler], has a summoning theme that matches his school. I can't say for sure they are all done, but I can say that the [spoiler] school has one for it.
On a related note I'm pretty sure there are quite a good number of themes out there already. I beleive the trouble is mostly in the finding of them XD

Anthee is correct. This can not be done. The scripts can only recognize if you have a specific Spell Focus Feat or if upon character creation you took a specific "creation kit" one of the default level one builds which I doubt anyone actually ever uses.
There are currently at least 6 themes, probably more--I made most of them but even I don't know which ones are actually in or not.

You most likely have a deity set in your deity field with [spoiler] in their portfolio.
(Not really a spoiler anyways, there's only one school that could have a theme of its own without any further clarifications... and I imagine most practitioners of that school worship a certain deity that does, indeed, have the school in question in their portfolio.)
My point was simply that my school is reflected by a summons set that fits it. You are correct in stating that texts (and items IIRC) can grant specific summons sets. I was actually wanded for the set, so school specific summons as well as diety specific summons are all possible, albeit at a bit of extra work by the DMs if you were wanded.
