Server is going to start go public in the short-term, which means we'll have an influx of players who may not know very much about role-playing or how to prosper and have fun in a server like EfU.
I'd really appreciate it if everyone made a point to extend themselves to new characters and players, to bring their attention to what EfU is about, and to help them enjoy themselves.
Since we're just getting off the ground, the phenomenon of "10 PCs on a quest with two newbies wandering aimlessly around the town" is something that -does- concern me. As a DM I generally will invest my time where it can impact the most players, but as a player you're in a unique position to really be able to spend the time to individually make a new player have as great a time as I know many of you are having.
There's a good number of combat scripted quests sprinkled around the game world suitable for the lowest levels on the server, but they can be difficult to find (or may still be prone to bugginess or poor balancing). Getting over the "tipping point" of having enough easily-found activity to continue to draw in people is important to having a successful server.
I also want to state that if you're in a position of not being able to find players after checking around town (good spots are the two inns and the Town Hall), you're welcome to check the DM channel for an OOC hint as to where your character might find some things to get involved with as a last resort.
Like many things in life, EfU is the kind of activity where the more you put into it the more you get out of it.
